I've always wondered about that. When I hear on the news about passengers kept on the tarmac for 4+ hours, why didn't they just forcefully leave the plane? Is the airline actually legally allowed to kidnap you and not let you leave?

the federal laws have changed because of that incident. i think the time limit is 3 or 3.5 hours on the tarmac, and then airport officials can send trucks to the plane and open the door to deplane passengers.
