Anyone know how to get around MLB.tv blackouts?

I am in the middle of Illinois pretty much, so Cubs/White Sox and Cardinal games are blacked out, i get radio, but would like to be able to watch. "i like to watch"

Any suggestions/work a rounds for this?

you always get radio. They don't black that out.

To get around it you'd have to find a proxy to use.

I bought my own proxy account. It's very cheap and guaranteed to work.

you set up a proxy to trick the website into thinking you are somewhere you are not. I'm not too knowledgable about this, but what I did was just downloaded a VPN app, I've used this method for watching HULU in asia when I go back home once in awhile.

This might solve your problem : http://mlbtvblackout.blogspot.com/20...nd-bypass.html

Be careful with mlb.tv though. Last year, I was in Florida for a month and they blocked my service because of the location conflict (utah). It's a pain in the ass to get it fixed too...whole thing is operated by third-parties and no one knows anything.

I am using the same one that keyboarding does and it works perfectly. Being in buffalo where 4 teams are blocked this really saved me.

There are two reasons for blackouts.

1)The game is a national game (games FOX or ESPN has the rights to).
2)One or both of the teams playing is considered in your region. For Brock, the Cubs are considered in his region and MLB.tv blacks it out so people would watch on WGN or whatever.

For me, I lose all Mets games, all Yankees games, Sunday night baseball, and a lot of the Saturday games (FOX has the rights to 4 or 5 games each Saturday or something).

Right, Cubs, White Sox, Cards are all blacked out on MLB.tv

It really is only the Cards as i can watch the other 2 on regular TV, but if i am at work, like i am now, i only get the radio feed.

Well if that is the scenario then VPN isn't for you. It would be highly frowned upon I would think on a college network.

They only black out Braves and Reds games in Tennessee. It pisses me off when they are playing the Astros, but after seeing the final score, I feel like writing a letter of thanks to the networks and MLB for saving my time.

The free proxy servers are unreliable. I have an account with strongvpn.com where $50/yr gets you a fast reliable connection. .

For some reason the Washington/Milwaukee game was blacked out in Cincinnati last night on MLB Network.
There are about 10 markets closer to Cincy then Milwaukee, I was pretty surprised.

If u are using a PC just get a VPN. MLB blacks me out of Reds home games. I use the VPN and voila!

I got directv and it always have numerous channels so if 1 is blocked out on MLB network i can always pick the other one or it has other channels that i can choose from. If all else fails get MLB TV on the MLB network and hook it up from ur PC to ur TV. Easy fix here Brock.

You can use it on the computer and also smart phones. Fantastic value and 100% reliable. Helps me access blacked out games and blocked out sites for Canadians like Pandora.

For the past four years, I've purchased the Extra Innings package through Time Warner Cable. It's like $180 and well worth it.

It's around a 140 now since it's the 2nd half of the season.
