[QUOTE=Optional;15272744]Does the govt take it's chunk immediately on stuff like this? Or does it just have to be accounted for at the end of the financial year? Once you have hold of 18 million there should be a fair bit that can be done to minimize the tax.[/QUOTE As long as you have a tax ID number casinos do not withhold on the spot.

For a million dollar risk Sexton got 9th and won 109,333...man I tell ya it aint easy being a pro poker player when you only win 11% for a top 9 finish. Does he have to pay 1/3 or more of that in taxes too?

So basically like a 70k win for a million dollar risk...wowzer

Actually Sexton was 100% staked in this event and go to keep 50% of the winnings. Total free roll. Thought dude had zero chance but he was patient and stayed in event long enough to make it in the money.

I understand Sexton got some ridiculous free roll deal but most ppl aint gonna get a mil free roll to try to win half of a 110k before taxes but congrats to him

You can't use this tournament as a barometer. The payout structure is unlike any other because of the charity aspect.Basically all the 5.3 million they took for charity was taken from the 4th thru 9th places.

How the fuk did that dude get jumped?

He is a multi-millionaire. Why is he walking the streets late at night? Unless he was jumped in a casino/club that story seems crazy. Get a ride, man! Your average gangsters have no idea who that dude is, crazy situation.
