Based on the success of baskets' thread highlighting how bad Obama voting coaches do against the spread I thought I'd create a thread to see if there is any long term success in all sports when it comes to fading coaches/players who voted for Obama.

RULES

• If its an Obama voting coach vs. non-Obama voting coach, play the non-Obama voting coach
• If its an Obama voting coach vs. Obama voting coach, NO PLAY
• If its two non-Obama voting coaches, look at the roster to see if a team has a concentration of Obama voting players. If one team has 2 or more Obama voters than non Obama voters, play the team with less Obama voters.
• Fade all Chicago based teams, especially the White Sox
• No play on NHL games

Why play this one? Because Charlie Manuel voted for Obama

PITTSBURGH PIRATES RL (+1.5 -135) and ML (+130) vs. Cincinnati Reds
Why play this one? Because Dusty Baker voted for Obama

DETROIT TIGERS ML (-110) vs. Chicago White Sox
Why play this one? We fade Chicago based teams, especially the White Sox

NEW YORK METS ML (-103) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Why play this one? Although neither manager voted for Obama, Arizona has more Obama voting players.

OAKLAND A's ML (+168) RL (+1.5, -135) vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Why play this one? Although neither manager voted for Obama, Tampa Bay has more Obama voting players.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS ML (+149) RL (+1.5, -115) vs. New York Yankees
Why play this one? Although neither manager voted for Obama, New York has more Obama voting players.

COLORADO ROCKIES ML (+100) vs. Atlanta Braves
Why play this one? Fredi Gonzalez voted for Obama

SAN DIEGO PADRES ML (+102) vs. Miami Marlins
Why play this one? Ozzie Guillen voted for Obama and has Chicago/Obama ties

PHILADELPHIA 76ers ML (-125) and PS (-1.5, -110) vs. Chicago Bulls
Why play this one? Tom Thibodeaux voted for Obama and we fade Chicago teams

DENVER NUGGETS PS (-3.5) and ML (-175) vs. LA Lakers

I am wondering, though, how much of this is already factored into the lines

Vegas is not stupid, and the sharps and syndicates are not either and this is all public info, so why do you think this angle isn't already fully factored into the line?

I am not doubting you, I am just wondering out loud, because the angle at first glance IS very compelling of course, makes sense, and has given very impressive returns recently albeit over a relatively small sample size

so you fade coaches who voted for Obama. that's all there is to it. I will continue to track this in the NBA playoffs. and, btw, it doesn't matter in the regular season b/c neither coaches or players give a rat's ass about those games...

but come playoff time... well, that's when they have to attempt to use their brain, and then it backfires horribly

Looks like this angle is better for NBA, after 1 day.

After day 1:

NBA = 4-0
MLB = 2-11

Plays because of Obama voting coaches: 5-5
Plays because of Obama voting players: 1-6

After that analysis, looks like you are right baskets. It's a better play for Obama voting coaches, especially in the NBA. I'll try this again today and see where it goes, but only with Obama voting coaches/managers.
