    Poker rollover sucks

    Revisiting this.

    let me get this straight

we pay points to enter a tourney, we battle our way through the tourney and finish in the points, and then we have to go roll those points over?

GET THE FUK OUT OF HERE.

    why?

is there rollover on saturday and sunday tourneys?

what's even worse is when you finish 15th through 20th and have to rollover 20 damn points 3 times. good luck with that.

can you imagine if the world series of poker had rollover once you cashed?

    shit's a joke.

i know you can even agree that this is unfair.

it would be different if the tourney was free to enter.

additionally, the 3x rollover on 20 points is so far out there its probably got a 5% chance of actually happening.

I could not agree more, but people are gonna play so Walker is gonna get that early retirement. I've only played in one Tourny so far.

yes sbr poker championship has 3x rollover on all cashes.

Yes they do take rake from the ring games.

I have to agree with OP that it is not a very convenient process. It is what it is though and we have no say in the matter.

15th-20th place should be 1x rollover max.

those are the spots that are almost impossible to rollover.

not that i agree with rollover in the first place.

I would agree, however sometimes you can hit big during your forced rollover... I think it all evens out the more you play.
My 3 fromvlast week look like this:
    won 200/rolled 184
    won 325/rolled 504
    won 150/rolled 0 (spent)

Total won: 675/ tot rolled 688.

I'm pretty convinced the cash games would be a ghost town without the forced rollovers...

i don't disagree with that at all.

less volume, but, at least you would be playing with your own points, not having to chase down a rollover dream.

i don't have much problem usually rolling over like 200-300 points, but the lower amounts are tougher.

that makes sense but why not just reduce rake? or have free rolls with rollovers?

It gets tedious if you cash often or let them pile up. They should at least let you combine cashes that are less than 100 pts. I haven't played since Ryder Cup qualifying, partly due to lack of time and partly to having more rollovers to go through. I still have 8 rollovers totaling a little over 3k to rollover from earlier this year, not real interested in adding more rollovers especially for less than 100 pts.
20point rollovers? It's like that Seinfeld episode where he has all those Japanese royalty checks to endorse for like 12 cents each.

wow combining rollovers would be amazing, but i doubt they will consider that.

The overlay makes up for the rollover. I came up with some half ass equation months ago to determine whether or not playing a tournament would be worth it if a player had to roll over their winnings. Had trouble trying to include a variable to account for varying skill levels so I scrapped it. These daily tournaments are definitely worth it unless a players skill level is extremely bad ...so...

I would agree, but the points put up by the poker players do not consist of all of the tourney points, that's why you have to roll over. If you want no rollover, then SBr would take away most of the points. If they are going to add points to buff it up, then You will pay homage by spending time in the poker room

    Math's not that hard dude..
Max 50 players per tourney is 500 points from buyins, but there is a lot more added, since first is already 400.

even for a bad player, the daily tournaments would still have a higher expected value than the 11 point entry fee.

Let's say on average 46 players play in a tournament. And then let's further say Player X is so bad at ring games that he only rolls over half of what he starts with.

It would still be worth it because 2500 poker points are given out (so let's say they're worth 1,250 for Player X).

You should end up with more points than you are rolling over in the long run if you are a competent player.

It can be a bit tedious but just go to the higher buy in tables and get it done faster.

Let me check my last few rollovers.....

    65 points = 120 points
    150 points = 260 points
    200 points = 373 points
    35 points = 82 points
    30 points = 0 points

I hate ring games too. The solution for guys who hate them so much is to do what Rudy did a few months ago. Get a few guys to agree to all in on a few hands (no matter what they're dealt). That way you don't have to actually play and it gives everyone there a shot. Of course you have to only use trustworthy people, but Rudy did it and it worked.

do we agree that the smaller cashes like 90 points or less are more difficult to rollover 3x than say 400 points?
