How to start working with local crew?

I always pay my debts. Make conversation with the guy, talk about weather and sports and shit. How do I ask to start working with them on the side?

Is there any chance they would let me start making pickups or keep the books?
Have a feeling the guy will just tell me to fukk off

I worked for an office in the 90's in Boston.
I was a regular with my local for 4 years, I brought in a few whales (2 dime players) I told the office since I worked with them, I can vouch for them.

Long story short, the whales lost long term, they paid, the office gave me 5 percent of the their net losses as a finders fee, then took me on as a liaison.
