    Martingale System on ONE Team

    Anyone tried this?

For example, betting only on the Heat, then double up when you lose?

    There is no holy grail.

The Heat lost 7 straight ATS twice last year.
The also lost 5 straight SU and when you are dealing with MLs of -500 and -600 that can get very expensive, very quickly.

Were aware of this. Just saying it could yield a couple units in the short term

You oughta do it with the Wizards. They have such insane spreads, that they're bound to go on an ATS run of 4 or 5 straight.

I've always wanted to try it.. As long as you have a really large roll it really seems pretty solid.

The same suggestion as every other system. It is not going to work long term.
If the individual plays are -EV, you are going to lose in the long run.

There are no winning Martingale strategies period. I must admit that sometimes I make some weird progressive bets and they pay off. Its like the roulette table though, the odds of losing a certain amount of bets are going to happen sooner or later. Here is a probability calculator that may help you http://www.sportsbookreview.com/betting-tool...ak-calculator/

Tried it with the Oakland A's in 98 or 99 when they won like 16 in a row or something rediculous.

Take teams that have had a tougher SOS and are not overpriced i.e. not laying heavy chalk....you can find some gems there especially in college games.

I'd argue the opposite. Bet against undefeated college teams always getting big time +money. It gets expensive very slowly...

Take your strategy to the blackjack table...Just keep doubling until u win your initial small bet. Theres no way you can lose 6, 7, 8 in a row right...

I thought about the Martingale for one team in baseball but every year even the eventual world champs lose 5+ or so games in a row at some point. When you consider those expensive ML's and all the chasers come out of the wood works it doesn't work.

I've thought about waiting for a good baseball team to lose 4 or 5 in a row and then start chasing them to win...But I always talk myself out of it..High juice and if the bums can lose 5 in a row, what's stopping them from losing 8-10 in a row.

Best to do this in baseball on a team that is having a long homestand.
