Looking ahead to Big Monday... UConn @ Louisville

For those that don't know our best player Gorgui Dieng suffered an ankle sprain in the Rutgers game this afternoon...

Keep a close eye on this line, because if he wakes up tomorrow with a swollen ankle and can't play on the quick turn around, we will not beat the Huskies...

With all the injuries we have suffered he is the one guy we can not afford to lose.

If he plays win, but if he doesn't take the Huskies on ML...

    I'll keep you posted...

I really hope he plays, cuz there will be alot of NBA scouts there and really want to see that matchup between him and A Drummond...

Our young frontcourt is really impressive... hope these kids stay 4 years...

Also Im very happy Rutgers best player Eli Carter is ok, his injury looked really bad... Hate to see kids go down like that...

Yupp, and Im telling you, I've watched every second of Louisville this year and we can't beat anybody without him...

Were used to going 8-10 deep, now we are basically using a 6 man rotation for big minutes and w/o him they will start freshman Zach Price, who could have a bright future but will get dominated by drummond...

We'll be forced to play 4 guards and Behannan for most of the game, and our kids will fight hard, but even as overrated UConn is they will beat us without Dieng...

Hopefully he plays, so we can continue this roll...

You don't know shit about basketball.

Pay attention. Matchups are everything in this game.

OP is trying to help.. and he's right. Louisville is coming off just 1 days rest and they most likely won't have Dieng and if he does play his mobility will be limited.

UConn is also coming off one day rest as well...

My point of this thread is just to make clear that I wouldn't have my money on Louisville tonight if Dieng is out...

If Dieng is in but playing on a bad ankle do you think he will even be effective enough for Louisville to cover the spread? We saw how bad Gronkowski was for the Pats yesterday playing on a bad ankle. I know its a different sport but playing on a bad ankle usually slows you down a lot.

Don't see much value here, lean over tho...

In the other Big EAst game Depaul/Marq, that game is going to be non stop up and down the court for the entire 40 minutes... However odds makers finally have caught on to these types of games in the BE and inflated this line...

I just can't get any info on how bad the swelling has been, he came in back in the rutgers game afterwards and was terrific... If he play's I think he'll be effective, as Pitino wouldn't play him if he wasn't ready and he's a really tough kid.

Here's a short article from the Louisville paper..

    Ha,

No i was just born and raised there...

I live in South Jersey now...

And believe me I've called my friends that go there and Pitino isn't giving any info out... All I've heard was he didn't practice yesterday and is going to be a game time decision...

From my experience in the past, Im betting he'll play...

the problem with uconn is that napier and oriaki are really good friends and oriaki thinks hes better then drummond. Its screwing up the chemistry of this team. Theres a reason that the start of the game against gtown oriaki and napier were on the bench. Calhoun has been noticing that even if drummond is open that napier wont feed him. So taking uconn is beyond gambling because you dont know when this issue is going to be resolve and if the offense isnt focused around drummond then you get lamb shooting bricks, napier mad because boatright is back and oriaki who thinks hes better then what he is. Its a Louisville bet or nothing, too much drama on uconn and Calhoun is not there to enforce.

Keep an eye on this line before tip. I have a feeling Louisville gets some late action and maybe moves to 4.5

Better chance it goes lower than closes 4.5 or higher.

UConn plays well -- maybe even better -- under Blaney. I'm not sure why, but they do. Connecticut is 3-1 in games he has coached this season, all in the Big East. It is 2-4 in conference games coached by Calhoun. Maybe it has something to do with the drama goduke described.

And on the Louisville side, here's what Pitino said. This isn't new, but I think it is a bit revealing. “What I have seen in the past is that you can play on it but then it will swell,” coach Rick Pitino said. “Now if it is a high ankle sprain, then he is not playing. If it is not a high ankle sprain, he will take off (Sunday) and rest it. I would say it is doubtful at best.”

And add to it a little bit of reverse line movement.

I think UConn is the play.

There has to be a way to find out if dieng is playing before tip off. Does anybody know the radio station Louisville basketball is on? Im sure they have some type of pregame show that will say if hes playing or not
