Warren Buffet wants to put his money where his mouth is

Lets see how many of these phony fuks step to the plate.

The American billionaire investor, in the new issue of Time magazine, says he would donate $1 to paying down the national debt for every dollar donated by a Republican in Congress. The only exception is Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell - for whom Buffett said he would go $3-to-$1.

Just because they think the debt should be paid doesn't mean they're responsible for paying it personally

Maybe instead, he should just take the standard deduction when filing taxes instead of hiring an army of accountants and attorneys to find every single tax loophole he can find.

Every Congressional Republican could donate 100% of their lifetime earnings, and it would have about as much impact as a drop of water in the ocean. There is a spending problem, not a money raising problem.

Warren Buffet could donate everything he owns to the national debt and it wouldn't even be a dent.

$50 billion goes into $15 trillion three hundred times.

the point is that they were slamming him when he said percentage wise he paid less than his secretary. Since these billionaire wannabes who would cut their own mothers throat to get an extra penny called him out, he is returning the favor. Lets see how many of these phony hypocrite shitbags step up.

Thor, you moron. Couldn't handle Peeps so you came here hoping to convince the simpletons this means something.

Buffet offering to match anybody not in the Top 500 richest people in the US, even if it's 100 people, is like me offering to match pennies with homeless people. The extent of his wealth and ability to give is certainly greater than 100x those he is attempting to 'call out'.

It's nonsense. He gets called out for paying smaller % than his secretary yet the people calling him out won't change policies for fear of losing campaign contributions. Typical bullshit that doesn't lead to solutions.

I don't think Buffet was getting slammed for this -- Buffet was slamming the system for allowing this to happen. If you are a big earner, you probably pay a much lower tax rate than normal workers. This is where the system is failing.

Sadly, the orifice of Omaha is not the folksy and kind grand dad the sheeple think he is.Look deeply at all the investments he's in and many are tied to the crash bailout where only Warren was awarded special privileges by the government.

Then him and Gates are ugenecists where the the money they donate kills people instead of lifting them out of absolute povertyThey are like the royal family where they want the earth's population to crash.Hell,do some scrutinizing of accounting and they don't lose a penny of their wealth by doing their dastardly good deeds.

Warren didn't grow up as a nobody, his dad was a big wig politician in Omaha and Warren was connected to the highest and mightiest ag CEO's when he was a kid.The table was set for the orifice of Omaha.

Why should he offer this challenge only to republicans in congress? Why isn't he including democrats? Why does anybody have to step up for him to do what he perceives is the right thing?

Warren Buffett has accumulated a mass fortune and where is he putting 99% of it - The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and NOT to the U.S. government who desperately needs the money. Clearly, he doesn't trust the U.S. government to spend his money wisely but he proposes that the wealthy should do what he is unwilling to do himself.

That makes Warren Buffett the worst kind of hypocrite which can only mean he must be a liberal democrat. At least he won't be around much longer.

Warren Buffett's effective tax rate is below 20% because he makes the vast majority of his money from long-term capital gains which are taxed at a maximum of 15%.

There is a sound argument for raising the capital gains tax rate and making it equal to the earned income tax rate (why should someone who sits back and make money off investment be taxed less than someone who works their ass off at a regular job)? However, if you raise capital gains taxes, then there will be far less investment and that certainly isn't going to help anything.

As far as his secretary, what makes her overall tax rate more than his is the fact that she has to pay 15.3% in Social Security taxes which applies to all of her income. The 15.3% by itself is more than he has to pay on his long-term capital gains.

Read Conquering Risk. Very well written.

Anybody have a link to this?

    I got questions:
Was Buffet talking about personal congressman salaries or tax dollars?
Is this guy supposed to be relevant or is he just grandstanding for attention?

Nobody cares about a rich guy who worked hard and made a name for themselves. Actually i do care and applaud them. It is the phony fukers that u guys support that rub people the wrong way. Like the guys that start wars (under lies)to profit a select few and become rich because of the tax payers. Like oil companies goughing people and getting welfare (tax payer subsidy's) to add onto the disgrace.
The shit bag who makes 20 million in America but this isn't enuf so he runs overseas and opens a sweat shop just to make a bigger profit. Those would be the people i don't support.
the people who make millions from the misery of others. But hey that is just me.

They didn't tell him to stop complaining. Buffett was complaining about his taxes being too low, so the GOP told him he could make a donation, and this is his response: you first.

If Buffett is so great why doesn't he just give a lot of his money to the government? Why does he need others to join him if he's so great? This is America. People are free to give the government more money if they want. They are also free to not do so.
