Yesterday we had a thread about the DOJ basically refusing to no longer pursue UIGEA.
Turns out the decision was made back in September, and was just announced/told to Congress yesterday.
There is an article in today's NYPost, and the WSJ about the decision, if you guys want it, I can link it.
But. The bottom line is this. The DOJ is making a distinction between Poker and Gambling on Sports. They have decided that states can implement their own online gambling efforts---allowing for poker rooms to pop up at the state level, but they will not allow sports wagering.
Most of the big casinos are jumping for joy at the decision---and some of the european gaming companies stock prices soared on this news.
It is going to be interesting to look this a year from now.
