If we die, will the books give our account $ to our spouses/beneficiary?

Or do the books just keep it?

Screw that tell your closest buddy or family member. If ya let your wife in on your gambling then she'll know how much you have and how much she can get if ya get divorced.

Really? That's BS. If they present a death cert, by what right do they claim to be able to keep it?

That said, if you guys are really concerned, just write all the account, logins, passwords, etc. on some paper, stick it in an envelope and put it in some place the Mrs. won't look unless you are dead. If you can't tell her about the gambling AND you have nowhere in your own house that she won't look, well, then you have much bigger issues. In that case **** her, I'd rather the book keep the money...

How would the book know? From their standpoint you aren't logging in anymore. I don't think they check state obituaries.

the books nature is that like a vampire no chance in fact if anything depending whether he knows the wife and what they are worth he will say that you owed him at least a week or two of losses, that could total a dollar or ten grand lol. don't be surprised if he ends up banging her why he is at it

I'm talking about if the spouse contacts the book and offers a copy of the death certificate. (We all know the books aren't going to go out of their way to find out what happened to people who have dormant accounts with cash in them, they only cold call if they want you to reup )

With the poster Peep passing away, and from reading his history it doesn't seem that he kept his gambling activities away from his spouse/family (he had his own sports gambling forum I think). I don't think books allow "joint" accounts like a bank, but I would hope they would give our money to our spouses in the event we passed away.

I would imagine books have some type of protocol for this. I would think they watch accounts with a substantial balance for activity. If they don't log in for say a year(maybe less) they will probably suspend them and put their money in the dead guy money fund. When someone who comes back asking why their account was suspended they just pull their money out of the dead guy money fund upon him proving his identity.

well, many of them have "inactivity fee" which effectively transfers your balance into theirs when you are not around anymore.

I contacted several books about this issue in the past. All of them agreed to pay the family, provided with 1. a death certificate, and 2. proof that the family is entitled to the money (e.g., via a will or other legal document).

The bigger problem is: how would a family find out about all a player's accounts? It might be a good idea to keep a list of active accounts in your safe deposit box with the account info.

Everyone should have a list of their accounts and passwords in the home safe, safety deposit box, or with your attorney. That way, there is no need for the sportsbooks to know that Joe BetBig Johnson is dead. He is just cashing out. (Wired to accounts where the spouse/significant other has access to the account by some means is the easiest way.)

ADW (advanced deposit wagering) setups in the USA have certain procedures in place for dormant accounts. I am not in that industry, so I don't know what the minimum standard is. One year dormant?

funny i was thinking same thing. The best way is just show ur wife or some1 close how to withdraw the funds. These books don't want to pay u when ur alive, u think they will pay ur wife when ur dead. I showed my wife. type all instructions in doc. I mean I am still young but u can never tell what happens tomorrow. every little mony u have can sure benefit ur family.
if u have to hide it from ur wife then u should stop betting on sports. haha

For the technically inclined, you can put all your personal info into a Truecrypt container and give out sections of the passwords to your friends and family. I just got done going through this. Now if I die unexpectedly, all it takes is for them to get together and unlock the info on everything I own and every account I have.

They won't come together and get it. Might as well send it to uncle Sam and save the drama.
