Screw the Cards, they gave more priority to Matt Holliday over him. Why should he have stayed when they have shown him little love over the last 3 years?

his numbers really declined last year. maybe it was injury, but he is not worth or will not last 10 years unless he dh's. not that personable either. home runs are vastly overrated. angels overpaid no doubt about it. he's worth about 18m for about 5 years more. after that AL DH money. about 10-12m.

Comparing him to Lebron is pure ignorance. One guy won two Championships, the other bailed after none. He turned your so-so team into winners, just be grateful and move the f-k on.

He brought your city 2 World Series Titles. The Marlins gave him a better offer than the Cardinals.

    Blame Cardinals management, not him.

Personally I thought when they took care of Matt Holliday at $22 Million a year before Pujols it kind of hurt Alberts feelings.

Pujols also left St. Louis after winning a Championship.

Can't say the same for Lebron James and Cleveland.

I too live in Saint Louis - none of what you are saying is true outside of the fact he may get boo'd when he comes back- The decision is honestly best for everyone LAA gets one of the best players in baseball (prob for the next 3-4 yrs) Pujols gets $254M gets out of this awful cold weather we have here and lives in LA - Cards dont go bankrupt and get to sign their in house kids that are coming through the farm system - People are mad but I think more than anything they are understanding - I spoke with several people at work who echo my comments and no one said he is 2 -3 years older thats just not true. The facts are Saint Louis people wanted thier next Stan the Man and what I heard the most of was people saying "he could have had a statue" (there are statues of Cards greats outside Bush Stadium for those who dont know) and how much they wanted him to stay because how great he was as a player and member of the community- BUT for ANY Athlete that says "its not about the money" thats wrong because its ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY - I dont want this to be confused with anger because its not - but this is about the truest thing in sports. So for total clarification - no one is going crazy, sad that an all time great is leaving, but not crazy - they may/may not boo him upon return because St. Louis is known for amazing fans so as a baseball fan I would hope we could show the class to not boo, NO ONE has made any comments about his age, and yes it is always about the money

I thought those holy STL fans don't boo anybody? Fukking hicks are full of sh.it. Now you're blaming Pujols when you should of locked him up years ago? It's his fault he wants an extra 50 million to set up his family for generations?

Card fans can think a former Card Curt Flood for his work on getting the reserve clause ended and the birth of free agency.

Don't athletes in all sports change teams all the time? Why do stars have to stay with the same team forever? And do we now have to decide who is a big enough star to lose this right? I guess one definition of a FAN is a homie who loses all sense of fairness -- one who thinks that the rules only apply to others.

I'm a big cardinal fan. The cardinals will be able to do much more with that money. I'm not really that upset. Nobody at my work really cared either. He wanted out, let him go. You have to think about this long term... not put all your eggs in one basket.

But why is he a traitor? he served his contract and played very well during that time. never asked for a trade like many spoiled athletes do. he did his job and has all the more right to move on.

The only people that should be upset are Angels fans. They will get a few good years but, he'll be vastly overpaid for 6-7 of those years. Just look at A-Rod, compare his age and the numbers. Who really thinks he's worth what he's paid now? People will go to cards games with Pujols or not, they don't have to overpay to keep fans. Cards fans should be happy their team won't be locked into that silly contract.
