Why Do "So-Called" Sharps, Get Pissed At Squares For Winning??

These guys get angry. Walking around upset, all season. Calling people squares

Well, I wouldn't say we get "pissed" when squares win. Some of us do when they have an extended period of variance going negatively against them, but that is an immature reaction. Overall, we are happy that squares exist of course, and we know that they have to win sometimes.

We really do love squares and appreciate all that they do for the industry. Without squares, we would be nothing, so perhaps you are right that we should show our appreciation more than we do, and in particular, congratulate squares when they win, as opposed to doing the opposite.

If the squares are winners they wouldn't be squares but sharps because the sharps are losing so the squares are really the sharps and the sharps who used to be squares wouldn't be angry because they used to be squares before they were sharps so they know how the squares feel being former squares and the new squares who used to be sharps are pissed because they are losing and don't know how it feels to be a square so they are now sharp squares and square sharps.

i always wonder why squares always blame the officials or say its rigged when they lose a tough game not even realizing they lost the bet before the game started when they took -6 o a line that closed at -4.5. trigger if you navigate the forum certain posters always cry or blame the refs.

I guess it's like poker players who lose with AK to QJ and get upset.

A real sharp/shark would never get upset as they look at the big picture.
Not everyone controls their emotions equally though. lol

I get so bored when I see terms like squares and sharps its so rdiculous!! Does anyone really care??? Who the **** is a sharp on this board and what the phuck does it mean?? Can you be a sharp and bet 200-300 a game?? Betting any amount that 99.9 percent of this board bets is so phukkin irrelevant in the real world. No one here that I know is betting life changing amounts. If you win 3K in 2 months what does that do for you???

Gambling is gambling you win you lose. Sharp square whatever. I feel sorry for people capping games for 200 bucks. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL. I take about 5 secs to cap a game. Looking at screens and being a sharp and studying games all day and grinding out 8K a year in profits is so lame to me you can't imagine. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.

Usually the people that constantly bitch about squares winning are losers themselves

I don't consider myself "sharp" in terms of the traditional way people think of it as (line shopping, constantly betting based off of the public %, etc) , but I have my documented SBR spreadsheet at +38 units in sports betting since September 2nd

What I'm much better at is being able to identify teams that are struggling/ about to get hot, how certain injuries may affect a team, what lines have some value, basically how teams will match up on the field........I feel like I have a good idea at what games to avoid as well

Some of my picks are considered square and some are considered sharp, so be it.......It's been working out pretty well so far

But it seems people that try to talk about themselves and hint at us that they are sharp, are not.

You're up 3 grand in a month. Come back and talk to us when you're up 3 grand everymonth for the next year.

If this site taught me anything, it's that I am special. Why? Because I win. Not hundreds of thousands like most claim, but enough to get trolls like boeing power to follow me and troll every thread cause he/they, the trolls, are miserable losers. Most people lose. EVERYONE here is SO FKING MISERABLE BC they are FKING LOSERS. Who cares if you bet favs, who cares if you got some system, IF YOU PROFIT enough to support yourself, AWESOME who cares how you do it. With the exception of a few cool ppl, most ppl here are complete losers in life and sports gambling.

The majority of sharps on SBR are bonus hunters who scalp. I respect ANYONE who works hard and is a success at what they do- I have noticed, however, that scalpers have an extreme neg attitude to anyone who can pick a side and beat -110 LT at a pro rate. Lot's of resentment directed towards pure cappers on SBR.

I know why this exists, but I'll just leave it at that...interested in others opinions.

I get pissed when huge underdogs almost win a game, but the fukking huge favorite wins by a score in OT. It feels like such a waste. I also know that 90% of people that won on that heavy fav will be acting like it was such a good pick and was 'never in doubt'. That's what makes me angry the most.

As someone who does primarily trade/scalp/hit off market numbers, I do respect anyone who can beat -110 lines by pure handicapping. I have been at this for over 20 years and it took me less than 6 months to realise that I did not have the requisite skills/abilities to beat the bookies at their own game (at least not in mainstream/efficient markets).

If someone is able to do it, great for them there is certainly no resentment here BUT there is a huge difference between the number of people who claim to be able to do it and the number that actually can. I have zero interest in debating records with other posters but it is plain to see that there are many SBR posters who lose but somehow claim winning records.

Watch when somebody picks whoever beats green bay. They won't shut up about it. Meanwhile they lost stacks fading green bay all year. Then they get pissed at the dudes at work who don't know shit about football, because they win betting green bay every week.

I really don't understand why anyone would get mad at someone else for winning. It's just dumb and it seems like in the gambling world all sorts of immature dudes just love to enjoy another person losing.
This is in Vegas, online, in poker, everywhere.
It's got to be either envy or jealously, I can't think of any other reason.

i never get why people are angry other people win. the fact is betting on favorites or underdogs is a choice you have to make on each game individuality. to say one is better because they pick underdogs is non-sense.
i just ignore people like that, esp. in chat now i don't even respond to any of them. not even worth it. some are worse then others i won't name names but they know who they are.

Serious question. Does the opposite apply as well? For example, if the dog gets the backdoor cover at the end, do you act like it was a good pick and it was 'never in doubt?'

It seems to me that there's a perception around here that taking the dog is the "sharp" side everytime. But don't tell that to guys that have been regularly backing Stanford or Green Bay this season. Those "squares" have more money in their wallets.

I know what you mean, I'm not the type of guy to take dogs all the time, but everyone wants to be recognized for calling out a dog to win outright. When everyone's on GB ML, people wanna be the guy who leans back in his chair and says 'take Minny ML'. They respond, "but why". The sharp then says "you'll see". And then once in a blue moon Minny will win, and when it happens, that sharp is regarded as the best ever. It doesn't matter how much money he's down, people will remember that big fluke win.

this right here is exactly what Lakerboy and many of the other psuedo sharps on this site try to do

They want all the praise for picking a horrendous dog - but when the dog loses (as it usually does), they want none of the blame because after all, it was supposed to lose right???

Never mind the fact that Stanford, Oklahoma State, New England and Green Bay have covered spreads at about a 75% rate over the last 2 seasons. Nobody wants any part of that because they're not sexy picks
