How Are The 49ers So Good This Year????

    I don't get it

it looks like they will move to 6-1 after this win (which includes road wins over detroit, philly and cincinatti)

What is the big difference with this team this year outside of the coach?? Or is it all attributable to Harbaugh's greatness??

They had talent last year. You have to put the pieces together and win the close games and get the right bounces.

They arent nearly as good as their record. If Cleveland had any sort of offense at all, they would be winning this game.

Even under Mike Singletary the 49ers have had a really solid defense over the last 3-4 seasons. It looks like Jim Harbaugh and his play calling selection seem to be the difference as well as his football saavy. That being said we are only 7 games into the seaon and plenty of regular season action left.

Look who they got on defense then that will answer your question! Excellent defense at every position for the 49ers.

Also a big part of Alex Smith's maturity can be attributed to Harbaugh also. I heard Jay Glazer say that during the lockout (within the 2 day span it was lifted so coaches could meet their players) that Harbaugh basically entrusted Alex Smith with the whole playbook offensively and made Smith in charge of teaching and installing his system to the other offensive players.

I don't fear them at all as a playoff team, they are a first round exit, or second round , since they probably get it playing in the nfc wes.

All coaching, basically the same team as the last 3 years. Singletary was awful. Not sure how they will perform at Washington next week though, can they keep rolling on the road like they have been this year?

they have a completely new secondary and added braylon edwards at wide receiver. now all their other good receivers (davis, crabtree etc) can run a bit freer. frank gore is actually healthy for the first time in a while. and now harbaugh is running the ship appropriately.

it is not the same team.

They added Rogers and Whitner and got rid of Clements. Not a huge upgrade in the secondary, but they are all playing better. Williams not getting many reps behind Goldson and Brown and Culliver have been with them. I'm surprised the loss of Spikes and Franklin haven't hurt them more in their front 7.

Defense is the same. But Singletary didn't know how to call offensive plays, so their offense was horrible. Also Gore seems to be healthy, which means he will get hurt in week 10 haha

the 9ers have 3 first round picks on their offensive line(iupati, staley, a davis) and a 2nd rounder(rachal)....sometimes it takes a little time to build some cohesiveness....plus theyve been banged up alot there over the last couple of years and had a hard time getting their guys all out there at the same time....alot of other talent on that team too with gore,v davis, willis, crabtree,(who ive always felt was overrated coming out of school)justin smith....bunch of other guys who can play too....theyve got a difference maker on special teams....its really about time some of the talent has come together for them....some expected it sooner....especially in that division

They have been having talented teams every year...this team is loaded every year. But bad coaching and bad QB play led to losing seasons.

Also remember that several veteran players left this year. So, new leadership, new coach have led to their success.

SF has played no one. They won a close one in Detroit and lost a close one in OT vs Dallas. 49ers are doing better than previous years, but they are beating inferior teams.

It will be interesting to see if they can win if smith has to throw, theres no doubt they have the weapons there now but he's been managing games so far. One of the most talented teams in the league though, there was no reason for them to suck last year

will be tough for them to actually go anywhere without a legit qb tho... add a real qb to that squad, and you are looking at a legit sb contender

It's Harbaugh..his teams are fudamentally sound and they don't beat themselves.

Lack of explosiveness on offense will get them beat in the playoffs, that comes next year.
