Red Sox are the side tonight

I'm personally not playing it because I don't see a clear cut edge on the red sox. But if you bet the yankees then you are a square monster. Red sox and chalk if you're a degenerate.

5dimes has Lester and the Red Sox -156.

If you ask me, the line is off 26 cents.

I don't know how you can be called a square if you like NYY, on a neurtral field, this game is pretty much a pick.

Fenway ain't worth 56 cents, this game should be -130

Who (with the exception of Gonzo) pretty much owns the Red Sox.

This isn't Colon's first trip to the rodeo, very experienced pitcher, knows how to pitch these guys, this ain't Johnny Rookie the Sox are looking at.

Steve great points, I just have insider info that Bart hasn't been taking his one a day vitamins and is due to get shelled. Good luck on the Yankees tonight.

You guys are forgetting that Lester is one of the best in the game and the red sox offense will rip bartolo's colon even if he's "on." The books know you squares have been sucking the yankees' cocks for the last 4 days. They know youl insta-bet them as big dogs. And they know they've got the best of it with heavy action on the Yankees.

I'm not forgetting who Lester is and looking at advanced stats is actually pretty close in numbers with Bart, Boston and New York are both public teams and share similar numbers road/home splits. So looking at it from stats I could see why the "value" is on the Spankees however I have Bartolo overachieving this year and expect some regression but I haven't been that successful this year so take it for what it is.

"You guys are forgetting that Lester is one of the best in the game" coming from someone who slobs the Sox knob on a daily basis. Looking at their numbers this year they're quite similiar....and with the Yanks on a 7 game winning streak +145 is a pretty nice price to have with a hot team. The only stat that bothers me is the Yanks have lost 8 of 9 to the Red Sox...that's a concern.

"Red Sox are the side tonight.....I don't see a clear cut edge on the red sox"

So in summary the Red Sox are the side, but you see no reason to bet them.
What is the point of this thread other than to incite yankee fans or backers

Red sux-1.5 +130 for me....hard to argue with how bos has treated nyy this season and while i have tremendous respect for what Colon is doing at his advanced age i still have a hard time believing sox lineup cant get him gone rather early (not saying they blow him up rather wear him down by 5th)..should be a fun series, and i can def see the argument for playing nyy as i wouldnt lay that kind of juice on bos and nyy is playing well. Do think nyy has had the adv of playing a chisox team that looks defeated and did not draw 1 walk in the last 3 games of that series i believe as they were flailing at everything. figure percentages are with me that this wiont be a 1 run gm so i played it like this, if i took nyy id prob get real greedy and play rrl.

as i said it never really a bad idea taking nyy at plus money tho. this seems excessively plus enough to me that it may have just lured me to sox side, who knows its baseball and i reserve the right to buy out later if it wont cost me anything as i figure bos rl isnt gonna get better than what i played it at.

i think it is fair to say sox were busy playing a much better team than nyy was. hell cws didnt draw one walk in the last 3 gms of the series against yanks not sure they drew any!!, so not sure it fair to say nyy playing that much better of ball atm. not to mention you know what they say in bases, "you only as hot as your next days starter".

yeaaaaaa i dont see how the red sox is the correct side here. -156 is alot of juice for a game that can be a coin flip. id say lay off this game, idk if i can put my money on bartolo colon vs the red sox either

you bet the dog in this series, period. yes red sox 8-1 vs yanks but dog is 6-3. these teams are dead even so that is how you approach these games, stop thinking too much. good luck!

^^^I'll be interested to see that line. Unfortunately I anticipate the red sox being undervalued. I say "unfortunately" because I hate betting on the red sox when they play the Yankees. It sets me up for mega-depression if they lose. There will be awesome Yankees value when Beckett pitches though. I'm looking forward to the awful line they'll throw out for that game.

when it's the yankees vs Redsox (two huge public favorites) I think you can throw the whole square , sharp thing out the window. Gotta like Red Sox chances when they are playing at home with Lester on the hill.

1st off this "public" everyone speaks of is us, do we not realize this? 2nd since when does the majority liking a side make it "square"? I can make a case that this type of thinking is in fact more "square" than any side ever has been.

thirdly you are crazy if you believe that 2/3 of the bets on this game are gonna be on the Sox. Yanks +150ish and you dont think there arnt ppl lining up for that as well?

    correct

And the public right now is heavily on the yankees. The "public" being on a side implies that a higher than normal percentage are betting a given line/side. Right now it's 45% on the yankees. How often do you see 45% on a +142 line? It's normally around 30%. It's pretty significant

there is no mathematical edge on this game based on percentage chance each team has at winning and the moneyline odds. if you are betting this game, then you are the so called square all you squares like to call each other.

if you want a game where the odds are sufficient for the percentage chance to win take the braves.
