Does anyone know or has been able to make a living off just gambling alone.

I was just wondering, I know some people here claim it, but how realistic is it? Or add even going to the casino, local or vegas. I'm going to vegas this weekend, lol not expecting to win any money though... I should learn how to count cards lol

million dollar blackjack by ken uston. Great start to learn counting. More sophisticated and complicated then todays basic hi lo count and +2 value systems.

but well worth learning, and just a good read in general.

I've actually heard of a guy that made a really good living off sports betting and gambling. Well, to be honest this guy I heard of, he's the one that heard of a guy but I don't want to lose you in details. Anyways, the important part is that I heard of a guy that heard of a guy that won tons of money with an excel system. Actually, I think the details to this system are buried in the THinkTank here but it's complicated so no one here can do it. The posts are hard to find to, by some guy named Ganchrow. Anyways, I think you all you need to do what he did is just read through this Ganchow guys posts and then you should start winning. At least thats what I've heard

does card counting really work? if it does, then why are followers of this system still not millionaires?

to the OP, i think no one will share that info if he knows how. why? because it takes a lot of time and effort on his part to share the knowledge that he has for nothing

The book i still use to this day in the early 80's i believe. And i have not tweaked much from the UPC+3 startegy. There was been alot of countermeasures to stop card counting since the book was released way back then. That being said there is still lots of ways to gain an edge in the game. Sometimes greater the 5%.

Ontario is great start. casino rama specifically

6 or 8 deck games. not single deck (obviously not the automatic shuffler tables)

most important factor in these shoe games is where the dealer puts the cut card (its called penetration and by rule you want anything less then 1.5 decks in a 8 deck game.

There are lots of pro gamblers who play Texas Hold 'Em and you can get rich off of that. Also, Sam Rothstein in the movie Casino was based on real guy so it's possible to do it with sportsbetting.

I thought everyone would here would know that.

This. Learned his 3 level count, but one bad thing is I am quite sure there are a few errors in his book. For example, the count at which to take insurance HAS to be off. Bokk is out of print now though.

Card counting is nowhere near what it used to be, at least in the USA. Too much heat and countermeasures.

If I remember correctly it he says take insurance with a 1/2 deck true count of +4 or 5 in the 3 level count. I can't remember exactly, I just remember testing it over and over and it wasn't even close to being +ev at that count. May have been an error in the original.

I believe the overall numbers are something in the 5% range of people who win regularly and can sustain a living from gambling. Thought I read on this site not to long ago.

The hardest part IMO is being funded properly. Too many headed to Vegas with 20-30k, only to be headed back a month later with broken dreams.

Usually, at some point in your gambling adventures, you are up. When that little voice
in your head says should I quit? QUIT!!!!!!!

You are your own worst enemy. When you win, GTFO as fast as possible!

Don't gamble without a game plan, stick to your plan. Set a win target, if you get close to
your target, quit. Set a loss limit also, get 'em next time.

Maybe 5% win long term MAYBE. Make a living has to be in the .5%-1% range considering there are probably over 100 million sports bettors in the world still a large number who do it.
