SBR Bash 2011 Airport Pickup in Costa Rica

    http://www.shuttlebus.co.cr/website/...e/in/index.php

$11.40 usd - safe, secure and 99.9% reliable.
They will be waiting for you just outside the airport exit. Basically look around as they are not usually the first in the line of waiting people.
The shuttle bus is under half the price of a taxi to downtown.
It took them 4 days to confirm receipt of my request.

The Merriot hotel is close to the airport so other options may be less expensive.

    Plus don't forget to:
    - purchase your exit v i s a for $26 at arrival.
    - change a few $ at the red currency kiosk, this is real bank's kiosk.
(located on the 2nd floor, far end past the nearby scam currency changers)
-also remember to purchase a few bottles of liquer and beer for your hotel room at the duty free.
You can take duty free alcohol into Costa Rica. Ask your hotel to empty your room fridge prior to your arrival.
Thus you can fill it up with your own duty free booze.
    - Plus make a color copy of your passport for your wallet.

Just my advise from my research.

Too early to get the adrenline going but I suggest you start banking some sleep and hydrating starting the first week in August.
Happy Hour at the HLH is from 5-7pm. 2for1 everything.

Definitely buy some alcohol at the duty free shop and bring it in CR - it's a lot cheaper.

Before you come down here, call your bank and let them know that you're coming to CR, and for what dates. That way they won't freeze your debit or CC the first time that you use it here. Your bank and V.ISA/M.C will usually charge an international fee for using your card - whether it's point of sale or cash withdrawal. Withdrawing dollars will cost you $5 plus whatever the ATM charges. Withdrawing in local currency will usually be a charge of 1% of the amount you are withdrawing. At the same time, you do not want to be travelling around Costa Rica with a lot of money, so I would not advise keeping thousands in cash on you.

You don't need to have a taxi arranged.

There's droves of official airport (orange) taxis camped outside the airport. If you don't speak any Spanish and are coming in early or late and not for the official SBR transportation, at least learn how to say a couple words... but the cabbies should understand the name of your hotel.

I would advise people to have their hotel's directions printed in spanish, as well as their hotel's phone number, so the cab can call them if they need help. Some ppl are staying at the sportsmen's lodge downtown, and very few taxis outside of the gulch are going to know what that is.

You'll mainly be hitting up tourist locations, so you'll be fine. It's not as widely accepted as V.ISA and M.C., though.

    Walker-

Let's make sure the swag bag from this bash is befitting people flying halfway around the world to support your chit-chat room. I don't want to hear any
nonsense about tightening of the purse strings to the store. Let's make sure you throw some kick ass SBR gear in the goodie bag. Don't let me down here, Johnny boy. Primo swag bag best be forthcoming.

And let's not even begin with any nonsense about the overall economic climate of the industry either. You aren't comparing Porsche interiors with David Robinson over $7 lattes because you're running some godd*m non-profit
    here, Ace.

John please take into consideration that I shant be too sober any moment during the bash.

    Please delete activities like:
    -flying a jet plane
    -snake wrangling
    -shark baiting
    -cliff diving

Also and most importantly I understand that we have to wear badges when bashing.
    That is perfect.
However, please have all Tica's in our bash do the same.
ie "Hi my daddy is the Chief of Police"
ie "I own an AK47. Do YOU?

I'll be coming in at 11:50 am on the 17th. Maybe we should all split the shuttle that runs to the Sportsmen. I called and it is only $30(per trip) not per person. And I am definitely down for dinner and drinks with who ever.

When I arrived for the RB wager trip I was basically accosted by 20 plus drivers. I pretended like I knew what the fukc was going on and acted tough to keep them at bay. Be ready to throw down at any minute The people speak English btw.

You might want to check if a photo copy of your passport is good enough. I believe that if you take a photo copy of your passport you need to have it notarized in costa rica or it wont do you any good, the notaries here have a special seal and stamp they will put on your photocopy. Also if you want to do it anyways make sure to take a photo after you enter costa rica. If someone asks for your passport its because they want to see if you're legal in the country thus they need to see the stamp from costa rica customs.

I suggest just carrying your passport around for a few days. Not sure a photo copy will cut it. I'm not a lawyer or anything but I've had to have this done before.

P.S. By someone I mean the police or immigration. A photocopy might be good enough for the banks and hotels etc.

I am stuck at the fukking Residence inn the First night. I have a Certificate for a free night that expires on Aug 31st. I had to use it. After that I am moving the the Bash Hotel. I am down for splitting the ride if anyone else is looking.

Dinner the first night sounds like a good Idea. What night is Chilidogs tour?

Anyone have a connection in Ft. Lauderdale? Spirit had a hell of a price but they nickle and dime the shit out of you. Might have to grab a couple of drinks in the bar during the layover.

Also looking to do one of the Adventure tours or something during the day on Thursday. Anyone planning anything for that day?
