Could Tampa Bay Lose Game 5 Before It Even Starts?

Sounding like Boucher will be sticking with Roloson between the pipes and keeping Smith as the backup. I understand that Roloson got Tampa Bay in this position, but you gotta put the better goaltender in the net right now. Smith has been brilliant in two relief appearances in Games 3 and 4.

I think you give the guy his chance.

I was really liking U5.5 before I read this, but I was anticipating Smith to start.

Nice, I hadn't seen that article on SBR yet.

He makes some good points too about Thomas handing the puck too much, Horton-Lucic line being nonexsistant, and the absence of Thornton's fiery nature.

Game 5 is shaping up to be a good one. As a Bruins fan, I'm hoping Downie will be out. Could be a huge loss for the TBL

ROLLY may throw a shutout..........who knows.

TB is the better club, we do know that much.

    They are?

They have more firepower up front with Stamkos, MSL, Vinny....but they're nowhere near as deep as the Bruins. Bruins have better defensemen (when they do their job!), better goaltending and can go 4 lines deep.

the only thing they have that makes a difference in the outocmes of the games is the refs in there calling phantom penalties. Let's see if the bruins can win by more than 1 getting to play an entire period on the PP.

I started a thread about who should the Lightning roll with in Game 5 and I agree Smith should start between the pipes. I understand that Roloson has been their number 1 and has done his share of getting his team this far but to me it looks like the fatigue is catching up to him. Letting in some soft goals that we haven't seen him do this post-season thus far. I'm not blaming the 3 goals in the first on him so don't get me wrong. When the momentum was in favor of the Bruins after shutting out the Lightning in game 3 and taking a 2-1 series lead, then jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first period in game 4 it looked like Boston had full control of the series. Until Mike Smith came in and the game swung in the totally different direction. Tampa looked fired up and came out flying in the second and tying it up at 3 after 40 minutes.

I coach a double A Minor Midget hockey team in my local town and we split the goalie starts between the two in the regular season. But when it comes to playoffs you ride with your hot goalie and you keep the winning team together no matter what! Keep Mike Smith in net and let the momentum that the Lightning took away from the Bruins continue rolling in game 5, 6 and 7.

This one I'll have to question. While I agree the refs have been terrible this series, it's been bad both ways IMO. They've called some phantom Goaltender Interference penalties and then let others go that were much more obvious. Malone had three penalties in Game 3, which were all decent calls IMO. Chara has been called twice (I believe) for good penalties.

With Roloson being confirmed as the starter for Game 5 and Timmy Thomas guaranteeing the Bruins win this series, you know both goalies are going to play their friggin hearts out today. Under 5.5 is worth a serious look in my opinion.

Tim Thomas already guaranteed the series.

Nothing to watch here, just wait for the Cup to start.

I can see this game going the other way, Eric. I think after the meltdown, Julien is going to slow this game down and play a hardnose, physical, neutral zone game. I expect Thomas to show up and Roloson not to get pulled, both will probably play a decent game. I'm thinking of a 3-1 or 2-2 OT game.

He's got balls, these two teams are pretty even.

For his sake he better be right or he's going to have to take the fast train out of town !

No, not at all. It's about 15% - It's a little strong in terms of money management, but I'm working on flat wager amounts.
