how is it possible to not be good at poker? you can be unlucky and not win, but sports betting is the obvious answer

I do both semi professionally. I don't have a particularly good talent for either discipline but I can spot a sucker. Most books are weak and exploitable as are most poker games. It's a grind either way but I consider the profit ceiling is much higher in sports betting. I don't think poker and sports betting are mutually exclusive. If you're going to do one you might as well do the other. However, talented poker players are often terrible gamblers and end up broke. So I'd rather be a sports betting poker player than viser versa.

By far sports betting would be my choice. I have loved sports my whole life and although I've only been betting them for about four years my dream is to do it professionaly. I wish I would have started much sooner. If I could do it for a living then I could do research late at night and during the day when the kids are in school, spend more time with my wife, and have afternoons and evenings with the kids during the week which would help me truly enjoy those memories of playing catch and learning new skills just like my dad did for me. How cool would it be to pick my kids up directly from school and have 2-4 more hours to spend with them. Once they are teens they will start pulling away in order to gain independence and I want to enjoy the time I have with them when they still think I'm fun to be around. I dread the day they are no longer full of joy when I come home from work.

~90% of poker players are losing players long-term.

Sport betting. Mainly because of the time and physical factors. I think poker can be more physically and mentally grueling on the professional level.

I'd have to take sports betting.... it's exciting to cap the games and then see how well you do, kinda like a test.

I have to say sports betting as well. But that is mostly because I can write things down in my notebook and that makes me feel important.

And after a while poker must be so dull. Every day sitting and staring at the cards must make you go nuts in the long run.

Sports betting hands down. I think there is a lot more money to be made as there are many many outs you can get down on -you may not be able to always find high stakes poker games - but if I knew I could hit 58% of every game I bet - I would just throw down as much as I could on any game. Poker may not be as easy to find people willing to let me take their money.

Poker is fun.....but I only play agaist my friends. I'd rather be one of the best sports bettors and take money from casinos.
