Actually, for some reason, the virus seems to be sparing the young. Those with preexisting conditions (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc.) are disproportionately at risk. However, having a strong immune system and being otherwise healthy doesn't automatically give one a pass. As with SERS and MERS, sometimes the immune system can be too strong and overreact causing a dangerous cytokine storm. This type of runaway self destructive immune response was the likely reason the Spanish Flu killed so many 100 years ago.

If anyone catches the virus, just be careful with certain popular remedies, such as elderberry and echinacea, that stimulate production of certain proinflammatory cytokines. While such immune stimulation can be helpful for certain ailments and diseases, it can be dangerous in the case the coronavirus. You would actually be better off with things that down regulate those cytokines such green tea, curcumin, and garlic.
