Furthermore, the left is obsessed with identity politics. Leftists don't identify as working class, they identify as a Gay, as a Black, as a Jew, as a Feminist, ect.

That last part is exactly backwards. Those "groupings" self-identify with Democrats. Meaning, those are the demographics that overwhelmingly turn out to vote Blue. Thus, the party rallies those loyal bases.

Just like the bible thumping, rural, gun-toting, super-nationalistic "rightist", which self-identify with being conservative. Thus, the conservative base generally targets those voters.

Here's the real catch, according to age demographics overwhelmingly have (pretty soon had) "Old" people voting Red at a 3:1 rate. These same "old" people made up close to 70% of the last midterm.

So, why do democrats win at all? Long answer to that, but basically they turn up when given a reason.

The coolest statistic out there, at least according to most poli sci studies show that a growing majority - now somewhere in the 70% actually considerate themselves moderate.

So, polarizing issues such as this are really just a bunch of bullshit spun to drive consumption of "news". There is overwhelming support for gay-marriage in the public. Even religious figures of most denominations - almost all Christian denominations - both nationally and internationally are in support, and some even providing religious grounds on which to do so.

This country isn't divided. There's just huge profit to be made from our instinctual tribal nature, and MSNBC to FOX are raking it in at record rates for 24 hrs a day. Red or Blue, Nike or Addidas, DirecTV or Comcast, PS4 or XBOX, Ford or Chevy, IPhone or Android - who gives a shit. Don't be a dick. Stop legislating morality.
