ODI matches are 50 overs or 10 wickets (whichever comes first)

Correct. But you often get 10 wickets in 20/20 cricket, due to the aggressive nature - less time so less defensive batting. 20/20 was introduced to try and save cricket in England, hardly anybody goes to county cricket games which are 4 days long, and not tht many go to 50 over 1 day games neither. So had to Americanize the sport and make it short and sweet, gave teams silly names like Lancashire Lightning, and Sussex Sharks, got rid of all white kit etc... It's done wonders for the sport tho
