What everyone fails to realize, is how fragile governments really are. All one has to do is look at what happened to the Soviet Union as an example of a large state collapsing almost overnight, there are hundreds of examples of medium sized governments that have gone by the wayside. Let us not forget there was a legitimate attempt to take over the US government in the 30's by force when Ret. Gen Smedley Butler was approached to lead an army of ex-military to take over Washington and remove FDR from leadership. The press went out of it's way to pretend it never happened, but when Butler exposed the plot, they had congressional hearings on it (McCormick-Dickson hearings).

The progressive movement has slowly taken over the United States, and they are preparing for the revolt that is coming when the dollar collapses. They have gotten laws in place to detain without trial, or even assassinate US citizens who are deemed to be an enemy of the state. Whether or not states are permitted to secede or not wont matter, because if an armed uprising with military facets attempts to usurp, you will have an in country war similar to what occurred in Spain in the 30's when Franco and the military joined with others to battle the communists and take over the governments.

Ultimately, the progressives will lose, because when they have to do the actual hand to hand fighting, they run and cower. Without the backing of their armed goons, the progressive is the most cowardly of creatures. However, since they control everything through central banking, they will be very difficult to defeat if they can keep the majority of sheep placated with their monthly benefits, health care, etc.., but when the dollar finally collapses, it's going to get real ugly.
