Maybe we could use this same liberal approach on auto sales. Buy a brand new car for $25,000 and have a $500 payment for 60 months. One year later the car is only worth $12,000 and I no longer want to, or can afford to pay $500 a month for the car, but I want to keep my car. Even though I signed a contract to pay $500 a month for 60 months, I feel it is absurd that I have to pay $500 a month for a car only worth $12,000. I feel I should be able to tell the bank that they are being unreasonable because those greedy bastards want to hold me to some damn piece of paper I signed but didn't really understand. I feel we should be able to reset my loan to the current market value and forget the unpaid amount. Oh, and if you don't agree to my "compromise" (because I am willing to work with the bank as long as they give me exactly what I want), then I will take my car out to the field and set it on fire because I am a big, entitled liberal bitch.
