Sunday's Front Page NFL Picks (Sep 23)

Denver Broncos (-3) versus Jacksonville Jaguars

    Game Time: 09/23/2007 04:05 PM -
    By: Larry Cook | procappers.com

After pulling off wins on last-play field goals the first two weeks, look for the Broncos to have an easier time this Sunday at home in Denver against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This line is a joke with Denver only being 3-point favorites playing at Invesco Field Sunday. The Broncos did squeak by their first two games, but they still won. Jacksonville can’t seem to move the ball at all this year and the Denver defense will have their way with the Jaguar offense in this one.

Denver has had two games to gel offensively and we are looking forward to their best output on this side of the ball Sunday against Jacksonville. Denver is 8-1 against the spread after gaining more than 150 yards rushing in two straight games over the last three seasons. Travis Henry is an animal in the backfield for Denver and he will run right over the Jaguars’ defense. Bet Denver Sunday.

    Free Pick: Broncos -3 (-120)

Play Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders Under 40 (-110)

    Game Time: 09/23/2007 04:05 PM -
    By: Will Cover | playbook.com

Last week's huge score against Cincinnati has driven the total too high in this week's Cleveland contest. Play the Under Sunday when the Oakland Raiders host the Browns.

We are well aware that both teams are 2-0 to the Over so far this season, but we see a relatively low-scoring affair in this contest.

The Browns and Bengals combined for 96 points last week and feel that the linesmaker has over-reacted to that result. This Raider defense is far superior to that of the Bengals and no way does Cleveland QB Derek Anderson have another day like he did last week. Oakland may play Daunte Culpepper over Josh McCown, but the Raiders game plan is to run the ball with LaMont Jordan against a suspect Browns’ defensive line no matter who starts. The Browns also want to establish a ground attack behind Jamal Lewis, so the clock will be moving.

Oakland has played to the Under 14 of 20 times off two straight up losses and are 21-14 to the Under the last three years. Cleveland is 14-3 to the Under after allowing 21 or more points, 10-2 to the Under the last three seasons, and 21-13 to the Under the past three years!

    Free Pick: Browns-Raiders Under 40 (-110)

Broncos, Bears and Jets among Doug's Week 3 Plays

    Game Time: 09/23/2007 08:15 PM
    By: Dividend Doug | dividenddoug.com

Focusing on home favorites, Dividend Doug likes Oakland, Chicago, the Jets and lists the Denver Broncos as his "...lock, stock, and two smoking barrels special."

I keep hearing from several of my disciples how much they appreciate my free service, that a sports handicapper with last week’s winning percentage of 71% against the spread, offering his wisdom for free, is unheard of.

Well all I can say is, "Thank you for your kind words."

Now let’s get down to the business of winning you even more money for you, shall we? The theme this week? Home favorites. The NFL schedule so far has produced a maddening propensity of underdogs this season, but that comes to a grinding halt this weekend.

Good luck and it’s still free.

    Indianapolis (-6) at Houston
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) CBS
The Matt Schaub affair ends here as Indy makes amends for an ugly performance last week. Look for Peyton Manning to light it up and the Indy run defense to stuff Ahman Green.

San Diego (-4½) at Green Bay
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) CBS
Brett 'Egomaniac' Favre will attempt to break Marino’s record for all time NFL touchdowns this weekend at home and will end up forcing two interceptions. LT will be held in check however as the Chargers depend upon Philip Rivers to pull them from the fire. S.D. to the unders.

    Kansas City (-2½) vs. Minnesota
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) FOX
Everyone finds a 'W' sometime in the parity driven NFL. Without a viable QB weapon, even Rookie of the Year Adrian Peterson can’t prevent another loss at the toughest of road venues.

    N.Y. Jets (-3) vs. Miami
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) CBS
The Jets get Chad Pennington back and that will be too much for the Dolphins to overcome. Hopefully Chad won’t throw a single incompletion all day or the out of their gourd Jet fans might boo him again.

Tampa Bay (-3½) vs. St. Louis
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) FOX
Tampa Bay’s new defense and offensive renaissance under Jeff Garcia will continue the victory train. Joey Galloway on the receiving end of another TD bomb. For those of you who followed dividenddoug.com’s advice to grab Tampa as the eventual division winner at 5/1, you are officially welcome.

    Denver (-3) vs. Jacksonville
    Sunday, Sep 23, 4:05 p.m. (ET) CBS
My best bet of the day and a lock, stock, and two smoking barrels special. The Broncos in the Super Bowl? Not inconceivable as the best QB in his draft continues his growth spurt.

    Oakland (-3) vs. Cleveland
    Sunday, Sep 23, 1:00 p.m. (ET) CBS
Don’t worry, the Browns with Derek Anderson at the controls are not as they seem. The Bengals defense would make even the Vikings QB look like Johhny U, too. The Raiders in a rout.

    Carolina (-4) at Atlanta
    Sunday, Sep 23, 4:15 p.m. (ET) FOX
Even the recent acquisition of a certain Jacksonville castoff QB can’t stop the bleeding. At least it’s not dog blood any more.

    Chicago (-3) vs. Dallas
    Sunday, Sep 23, 8:15 p.m. (ET) NBC
Defense, defense, defense! The Bears have plenty and the Cowboys none. Look for the Bear secondary to shut down Terrell Owens and a T.O. meltdown to subsequently follow.

    Houston Texans +6 vs Colts

    Game Time: 09/23/2007 01:00 PM -
    By: Bill Young | touthouse.com

The Texans are off to a 2-0 start behind QB Matt Shaub and a pestering defense. Take Houston and the points at home on Sunday when they entertain the Indianapolis Colts.

We will ride the Houston bandwagon this Sunday when they receive six points at home to the Indianapolis Colts.

If you still don’t believe the Texans are for real then you will be a believer when this game is over. Houston has what it takes to knock off the Colts -- a great running game with Ahman Green, one of the best passing attacks with Matt Shaub and Andre Johnson, and a get-after-it defense that can create turnovers will give the Colts fits all day long.

The Colts are 0-5 against the spread in their last five games against the AFC South division. The Texans are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record. Take Houston and the points.

    Free Pick: Texans +6

Dividend Doug played all favorites (9 of them). I see his 71% clip going the way of the dodo bird.
