It didn't take long for Matt Jones to find a new team.

The Colts claimed the third-year running back off waivers Sunday following his release from the Redskins on Saturday, NFL Network reported

Jones began last season as the Redskins' starting rusher before suffering an injury in Week 7. He had played well up until that point, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, including a 135-yard performance the week before getting hurt. He did, however, struggle to hold onto the ball and later fell on the team's depth charth before eventually being waived.

A third-round pick out of Florida by Washington in the 2015 NFL Draft, Jones recorded 950 yards on 243 carries with six touchdowns over his first two years in the league. Following Saturday's initial cuts, the Colts had just three running backs on their roster — Frank Gore, Robert Turbin and rookie Marlon Mack.
