    NFL Teasers Crossing '0'

There's been a lot of smart guys who say you should not cross '0' when teasing an NFL team. I have gone against this theory and been VERY successful doing so. Not saying it's perfect, just saying it does work. Here's this year’s opportunities and the results. I used the closing numbers at Scores and Odds to evaluate.

    Week 1: 8-2
New Orleans -3.5 Tease to +2.5 Win
Kansas City -4.5 Tease to +1.5 Win
Chicago -3 Tease to +3 Win
Cleveland -2.5 Tease to +3.5 Lose
Seattle -3.5 Tease to +2.5 Win
Detroit -4.5 Tease to +1.5 Win
St. Louis -4.5 Tease to +1.5 Win
San Francisco -5 Tease to +1 Win
Dallas -3.5 Tease to +2.5 Win
Washington -4.5 Tease to +1.5 Lose

    Week 2: 7-1-1
Indianapolis -3 Tease to +3 Lose
Carolina -3.5 Tease to +2.5 Win
Atlanta -5.5 Tease to +.5 Win
Kansas City -3 Tease to +3 Win
New Orleans -4 Tease to +2 Win
Detroit -2 Tease to +4 Push
Oakland -4 Tease to +2 Win
Denver -4 Tease to +2 Win
Seattle -2.5 Tease to +3.5 Win

Just Spit Ballin here, but it ain’t that bad of an option!! Please let me know what you think.

Only time I'd do it is a 6 point ties win teaser at 5 Dimes, from -3 to +3

Can you split these up into Week 1 vs. Week 2? I get the feeling just glancing at these games that the opposing side of the 5 point teaser would have hit at a pretty good rate as well.

Good Observation Frank !! Had you played all the teams in week 1 and 2 against the teams listed above, the teams teased would have gone 15-3-1. All of my plays were based on a 6 point teaser.

I think the whole point is you are paying too much juice to cross 0 when you don't have to...all those week 1 games that won would've been a win without a tease with the exception of Chicago (tie) and St. Louis. And the points won't save you from losses.

Of course in Week 2, it helped out a lot more as KC, NO, and DET would've been losses. If you're playing this many games, maybe split and parlay a couple without teasing?

Teams might have gone 15-3 but assuming your 3 losses is paired with a winner, your actual teaser recored would be 6-3 so you would still be up but not as much as ppl would think.

Biggest myth in sports gambling is to not tease through 0. It's dumb. Makes no sense. Many games are won or lost by a field goal. A -2.5 favorite teased to 3.5 will win more often than not

if you wanna do that, go with a 7 point teaser. NEVER tease to +2.5. Its just dumb IMO

why cross 0 as a favorite when you can take the dog + more points if you expect a close game?

crossing zero is fine, getting across key numbers while crossing zero is whats important.

id tease Jaguars up. Carroll should have some sympathy for his former DC, +25.5 is a good number.

Well, I've been saying the same thing for years...I've have good luck crossing the zero on my teasers but as most posters on here already know I usually tease dogs and get those extra points!...My theory has always been if you feel like the underdog has a chance to win the game outright, then tease the dog and take the points...if you feel there is absolutely no chance at an upset, then take the fave and tease down and/or cross the zero and get bonus points in case there is an upset...I can't tell you how many times people have told me "don't cross the 0", "you get no value", blah, blah, blah and let's say the team A was favored by 4 over team B and the final score wound up like 17 - 16 or 24 - 23 with the underdog winning!...so had they done just a standard 6 PT tease they would have had the fave (+2) and would have won the wager instead of losing it...

Only going to look at Week 1 because I don't feel like entertaining this idea too much......

The original post and the subsequent people (post #7 for example) who agree with it is a perfect example of why their will always be sucker bettors and bookies will always wins.

Yes, in week 1 those plays went 8-2, but the favorites without a teaser went 6-3-1, so you only picked up 1.5 games by teasing, yet you paid far more in juice. Do you understand the point of a teaser? It is to cross key numbers and add significant value. Taking a 6-3-1 record and turning it into 8-2 is not significant value. You are taking a 66% win percentage and turning it into 80%. That is only a 14% edge, while you are paying 21% for the teaser.

I understand you are only spit balling original poster and I don't mean to condescend, its just frustrating to see people who have no idea what they are talking about encourage you to continue. Listen to posts #2, #5, and #6.

I agree, you want to tease across key numbers. Do ties win? Is this a 6 point teaser at +100, -110, or -120?

8% of all nfl games are decided by 1 or 2 points, same percentage as 7 point wins
    15% is 3 point margin
42% of all games decided by 7 or less

what book does 6 point teasers at +100? I'd assume he's talking about 6 at -110, and ties don't win.

the 6 point ties win teaser at 5 Dimes is the only one where you can tease across zero and still get value, but I don't know of other books that offer that.
