Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers says that after two years of watching and waiting, he is 100-percent confident he can step into Brett Favre’s shoes without the franchise skipping a beat.
“When I was drafted by the Packers, everyone kept saying to me: ‘Oooh. It’s going to be so hard for you to come after a legend like Brett Favre. The expectations will be so high because he’s so great,’” said Rodgers. “I was nervous at first, but after watching him play I’m confident I can do what he does when the time comes.”
Rodgers stressed that he by no means believes he will make Packers fans forget Favre, only that he feels he can perform up to his level.
“Not to speak out of turn or be disrespectful in any way, but what is so hard?” he said. “Apparently all you have to do is run around wildly in the pocket and heave the ball way downfield into triple coverage. I can do that. In fact, I could have done that when I was playing junior high football. It’s not rocket science.”
