Defense Calls Duper An Addict Who Never Sought To Sell Drugs

March 08, 1995|By WARREN RICHEY Staff Writer
MIAMI — Former Dolphins receiver Mark Duper was a debt-plagued "drug-ingesting machine" who tried to buy cut-rate cocaine from undercover agents to satisfy his addiction rather than to resell the drug for profit, defense attorneys said Tuesday.
They also suggested in opening statements at Duper's trial that the three-time Pro Bowler had been entrapped in an undercover deal that led to his arrest at his Coral Springs home last May 19.
