    NFL Week 17 & Early Hedge Question/Advice ?

    NFL Week 17:

    ****Cincinnati Bengals +3
( Bought a half point early, but really like this pick so I will look to tease w/ something )

**Denver ML ( I will be parlaying this with some CBB/CFB/CBB ML's to avoid juice )

*Might look to play Detroit in the 2H/ingame if they are down, and can get 4-7 pts.

    FOR FUTURE HEDGE Q:

I have an acc at a book I have never been thrilled with so before the season started I figured I would go with another book, but had a decent amount of money left in there. I just decided to put it all on the Ravens to win the SB 18/1.

I like the Ravens, but I am not quite as confident as I once was for many reasons.. Books seem to really like the Patriots this year, and Ravens might even have to play the Steelers which we all know how hard it is statistically to beat a team 3 times... specially of that caliber.

Ravens should have a first round BYE, but are looking to probably take the #2 seed in the AFC. Like I said earlier though I really do like the Bengals this weekend which could potentially hurt their seeding. Luckily the lower tier teams in the AFC shouldn't bother the Ravens much. There is a chance they could get the #1 though. I have never been good with the whole hedging thing, and have lost a good bit of money of the years not hedging at all.

What is the earliest I should even look to try to guarantee some money ? Hey depending who they get could you take points in the first game right off the bat small ?

    ^
I am just trying to get ideas of what others might think. I have never played a future this big.. I actually have almost 700$ on it, and at 18/1... Just seems like given where the teams at right now would be crappy not to make out on it on one level or another given the price @ 18/1.

I also like the Chargers a bit this weekend as well, but it is hard to play a team that is out of it.

Carolina has been putting up big numbers all season, and with the Saints so-so defense I think the Panthers are good to go. Did I mention Cam Newton?

I'm not 100% sure how you can hedge your future bet. One way that I can think of is that you make Money Line bets on the teams that the Ravens play against in the playoffs. I do hedge sometimes when I play parlays, but with straight bets, I don't hedge and here is why. I'd rather make a smaller bet and not hedge because of the juice that sportsbooks charge. Hope it helps!

Any thoughts now that the playoff picture is set ?

Ravens will likely get the Steelers.. is that correct ? Which would mean they would have to beat them for the THIRD time. Very tough, and lets face it they are also the best team in the AFC besides Patriots. I would feel safe against Denver/Houston, and even Cincy even though cincy would be harder than den/hou.

Going to be hard too, because Baltimore will be like -3 or 3.5 against the Steelers which would be a SMALL money line.

Anyone think they have a good idea on how to hedge Ravens or what they would personally look to do ?

    Thank you.

    Still no thoughts ?

Looking at the WC this weekend the Falcons look like a HUGE public dog. Take a peak all over the forums, and it is the Falcons everywhere. Hell my cousin is a huge Giant fan, and the first thing he said to me today was that he thought the Falcons would win.

Warning: Public dogs do not do well at all.

^^ Falcons got smashed.. I actually played Houston bigger than the Giants though. Still looking at this weeks card.

*Anyone have any thoughts on future yet ? I feel fairly confident that the Ravens can take care of the Texans although the Texans did look impressive last week. All they have to do is win though ya know ? I am not sure I can even hedge this early anyways, and I really don't need to because I did buy a Texan future before the playoffs started assuming they would play the Ravens anyways which would easily be my best price. I don't count that future for anything much other than the hedge though, because even if they did beat the Ravens there would be no way in Hell they beat the Patriots... and the line would be so big there would be like no way to bet the hedge anyways with pats at home, am I right ?

I don't know. Lookin for a little help fellas.. I know someone on this fine site has some thoughts that would help. I am really a good guy people, and I would even be willing to sleep with your wife. Anything I can do.

    hah

I'd wait until after this round to see what happends. For all you know it could be Ravens - Denver and Giants - 49ers. That's not happening but you know what I mean, it can only get brighter from here on out. My advice is to check out the futures at Betfair and you should get a good idea about numbers for hedging...

Yes that is true... Hopefully the Ravens can take care of business then cause I don't think there is any good way to hedge right now. I mean I have Texan futures just in case, but no way they beat ravens, and then the pats in a row on the road.

Patriots -9 some places.... and if you didn't know before now you know why I was so worried about this one.

Not even sure what I can do here with pats line being so damn high.

So what would some of you guys do if you were in this situation or are in this situation. You have a big Ravens future, but really don't think they will win this weekend. The spread is high what is the best option using the Pats in a few ML parlays or teasers throughout the week with some college bball ?

Hard to do when you think they lose. Especially considering I was in same situation last year, and let it ride. GAH!

Last chance guys I have some parlays/teasers with Pats to win, but not enough yet really. Setting those aside I am curious what some of you may do if you had Ravens 16/1 futures right now, and did not think Ravens was an easy win. SBR point donation for best reply.
