Why Baylor Represents Everything Wrong With College Basketball

I have never seen a team with that much size, talent, athleticism, and overall NBA potential that just overtly refuses to play like a team. Its like Scott Drew promises his recruits that if they come to Baylor they can play however they want, not train hard, and still go pro. He coddles them, just like how he let LaceDarius Dunn off with a slap on the wrist and never benches him no matter how much his ball hogging hurts his team.

The closest comparison I can think of is Wake Forest under Dino Gaudio. Every year they'd collapse at the end no matter how much talent they have. The reason is the players were more concerned with the NBA Draft than the NCAA Tournament. It has gotten to the point where the interests of winning college basketball are diametrically opposed to those of college basketball players. Most schools can handle that, but Baylor with its tiny fan base and enabler of a coach can't.

And what is Baylor going to do? Fire Scott Drew? Of course not! Baylor was worthless before he got there, and now even if they're not winning at least they're getting more talented recruits than almost any other school. So Baylor will just continue on, sucking up all the best big men in the country and doing absolutely nothing with them. Meanwhile the rest of us are forced to watch scrawny 6' foot kids with walk-on athleticism jack 3s at games played at a snails pace, remembering a time when players actually tried to win in college.

F' you Baylor, nobody likes you. If it weren't for a bunch of well-connected alums you'd be in the Sun Belt where you belong.
