TEMPLE -12, UMASS +8.5
Northern Illinois Huskies (2-7, 0-0 Mid-American) @ Temple Owls (10-2, 0-0 Atlantic 10)
-12 appears very doable to me.
The Owls have beaten the likes of Penn St, Siena, Seton Hall and Villanova.
They lost to Georgetown by one point, and held them to 46.
2 nights ago they held Bowling Green to 39 total points, a team with a superior record to Northern Illinois.
The Huskies have not played a quality team all year and will be unprepared to face Temple's swarming defense.
Their offense is not threatening against much weaker opponents than the Owls.
BG scored 29% less than avg. vs Temple.. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask...schedule/TEMP/ http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask.../schedule/NIL/
UMASS +8.5 @ Davidson (+8.5, +9 and ML)
Davidson does not deserve this spread. They have a penchant for not being able to close tight games, while UMASS is a team that doesn't know the word quit. Davidson has fallen to Butler, South Florida, La Salle (by 14 !), Penn St, Rhode Island (by 10 !), College of Charleston (by 11 !), Gonzaga and Cornell.
Coming off the Boston College game, I expect UMASS to have early success @ Davidson.. but I'd rather take the game points.. only fear is the late fouls, if UMASS is down near the end.
Still, UMASS can win this game and they know it.
