These teams went UNDER in three of their last four head-to-head meetings, and we are looking for a repeat performance this afternoon.
Yes these teams can score, but they are also two of the better defenses in the country, and as the axiom goes good defense stops good offense. Illinois is allowing just 59.7 points per game on 40.8 percent shooting from the floor. Moreover, when the Illini play here in Champaign, they are allowing a ridiculous 53.2 points per contest on 37.9 percent shooting. As a result, the UNDER is 3-1 in all Illinois home games this season that had a posted total.
Ohio State has also been staunch defensively, allowing 63.6 points per game and 40.3 percent shooting. Granted the Buckeyes have not played as well defensively on the road, allowing 86 points at Florida and 98 at North Carolina. However this Illinois offense is not as explosive as those two schools averaging a pedestrian 73.1 points per contest, so we expect this game to resemble the recent meetings in this series.
