don't know that i can argue with a straight face that Calipari is one of the ten worst, but he's pretty bad given the talent that he has.

also have a relatively low opinion of Frank Martin, Ben Howland, Roy Williams.

honorable mention: Chuck Swenson, 4'10" former coach of W&M who failed to see the potential of an awkward walk-on with a sneaky jumper in 1991. his loss was the Kappa Sig intramural team's gain, i promise you.

i must be missing some - in my mind, i feel as there are at least 20 terrible coaches that i should be able to name off the top of my head.

Grant is a great one to debate based upon this season, but i think that i have to disagree. that team clearly has huge chemistry/behavior problems this year. of course, that's his responsibility too, but i stop short of changing my opinion of him as a coach based upon this season.

It certainly is his responsibility. When you have a team like that, that said they were so motivated to make a run this year after losing in the NIT championship game, and now they just dont give a shit, you gotta look at the coach. a month ago, i would've said that Pitino is a shitty coach. i have to eat a little crow and admit that, since UL's health has improved, he has them playing excellent ball. i still think that he's overrated and not nearly what he once was (there was a time when you could argue him for top ten), but since the collapse at Marquette, they have taken a real step forward and Pitino deserves credit for that.

you're not giving Rick Barnes his due respect. his name should be on the trophy for worst coach. it's not easy to put multiple guys in the NBA draft every season while consistently posting double-digit losses (or challenging double digits).
