Isn't Michigan + whatever vs. Duke a play?
I'm assuming Michigan will be around +5 again for Tuesday -- seems like the Wolverines will be able to match wits and hang with the Devils, who haven't particularly impressed me so far.
Thoughts?

Yale +10 at Seton Hall
Kent State -5.5 vs. Cleveland State
UTSA -2 vs. Fresno State

IMO no...I'm a diehard duke fan so my comments may seem a little biased but i feel that Duke will be able to break down the 1-3-1 (which gave memph the most trouble) because we have guards like rivers, curry, and even Quinn cook who can penetrate and kick out. Memph never really penetrated nor threw the ball inside (mainly because their big man Black was in foul trouble from early on) which is something Duke will do with Mason and Miles.

Penetrate and kick from where? If they do it from the key to the wing Michigan closes well on the 3, if its from the wing to the baseline, they get trapped, its gonna take two passes to beat it from the wing and a cutter to give options for the 3. Duke does this well, at least cutting and they can make 3's. So as always they are gonna have to execute offensively, its should be a great game.Originally Posted by Nova0387

Having a look I'm not sure we will even see +5 for Michigan. Would not be surprised to see 4.

No real opinion on the outcome bu your synopsis is right on from my view of the Mem game with regard to the 1/3/1 and variety of other zone looks he gave them. Memphis backers will live or die with undisciplined unorthodox play. What were they doing at the end of the game not fouling? If i didn't know better I woulda thought the game was close or they were ahead. No desperation, no fouling???

any reason you like kent state -5.5? cleveland state has looked really good this year. i think the books are still underrating them and i thought +5.5 was an absolute steal. it has since dropped to +3 and i think even that might be worth betting. i think they have a great chance to win this game SU
Height don't mean much when you trip over your own feet. Mason Plumlee is the only real big man they have. Kelly runs around the arch the whole game and Miles Plumlee just doesn't have any ability whatsoever, he just takes up space. Marshall has not played a minute this season, I assume he is redshirting.
Duke bigs scare nobody. Duke is all about whether their guards and Kelly are hitting the 3.
Wish I coulda got the 5.5 on Cle St, anyone that goes into Vandy and beats what I think is a really talented team gets my attention.

Duke goes into a half court slowdown any time they are up 15 against a decent team in the second half. Hold the ball 30 seconds, then shoot a 3.
The opposite side of this slow down crap is they let can teams hang around resulting in 20 points scored in the last 2 minutes on free throws. K will tell his team to defend the 3 and give up lay ups in the last few minutes with a big lead and then there is a pattern of layup by one team, then two duke free throws, over and over again.
So what I am saying is that betting any total on Duke is nothing but a coin flip.
I have an open teaser with 1 play left to close out and debating between Michigan +18 or Over 122. Decisions decisions...

I can see a 62-60, 64-58 type of final score a lot easier than I can see Michigan losing by 18.
That's about where I am with this game, being a B1G guy I would like to see UM pull off the upset but feel it's more likely to be a Duke win by around 6-10.
Thanks for the insight. I am a Michigan fan so trying not to let that sway me too much. I keep thinking about the Michigan Duke game in the tournament last year but I just don't know what to expect from UM yet. I would like to think Duke will score closer to 70 and Michigan will stay in this so that's why I was leaning towards the over but I have no clue. heh.

I'm going small on Michigan they will bring some of that zone defense that nearly upset Duke last year. These teams were both better last season but Duke has fell off way more the Michigan imo.
Michigan returns 4 starters....duke only returns 1
Unless you've handicapped duke to win the game by 7 or more take Mich +6.5. If you think you have to buy a point or 2 don't bet the game, the extra juice makes it not worth it.
