While the NFL is just a question of needing more time to come to an agreement, the NBA is different. In this case the owners actually want to cancel the season 1. because they'd lose less money without a season than with one and 2. they want to force the players to take less money.

Realistically what we are seeing is a proliferation of stupid, entitled idiots with too much money and not enough management skills who want the players to bail them out. Nobody forced them to take Michael Olowakandi and Kwame Brown #1 overall. Nobody forced Atlanta to give Joe Johnson a contract so big they can't afford to re-sign Josh Smith. Nobody forced James Dolan to be but-buddies with Isiah Thomas.

A long time ago someone once asked me why the NFL wouldn't let Rush Limbaugh own an NFL team when the NBA let's Jay-Z own a stake in the Nets. Well, now you're seeing why the NFL is a lot more careful about whom they let buy in. They don't want more Bob Bidwills and Mike Browns much less Marge Schotts, Donald Sterlings, and James Dolans.
