I came across a stat as I was listening to one of the games last week about UCONN playing against a team in their backyard during the tournament. 14 times this has occurred in the NCAA tournament when UCONN has played in their opponents home state, and they have lost 12 of these games SU. The last 7 occurrences were:

1992 - Second Round - 55-78 loss to Ohio St. in Cincinnati
1994 - Sweet 16 - 60-69 OT loss to Florida in Miami
1995 - Elite Eight - 96-102 loss to UCLA in Oakland
1998 - Elite Eight - 64-75 loss to North Carolina in Greensboro
2003 - Sweet 16 - 82-78 loss to Texas in San Antonio
2006 - Elite Eight - 84-86 OT loss to George Mason in Washington, D.C.
2009 - Final Four - 73-82 loss to Michigan St. in Detroit

Since 2003, teams that are playing at least 1,500 miles closer to home have won 79 percent. Teams with a geographic advantage of between 1,000 and 1,500 miles won 71 percent of the time.
