This "tanking" business is bad for the NBA game. And getting worse.

Here's how draft order should be decided.

1. All teams not making the playoffs go into a lottery for draft spots 1-14. Each team in this lottery has an equal chance to be awarded any of those 14 picks.

2. The eight teams eliminated in the first round of the playoffs go into a separate lottery for draft spots 15-22. Each team in this lottery has an equal chance to be awarded any of those 8 picks.

3. The four teams eliminated in the second round of the playoffs go into a separate lottery for draft spots 23-26. Each team in this lottery has an equal chance to be awarded any of those 4 picks.

4. The losers of the conference finals flip a coin for 27th and 28th pick.

5. The loser of the NBA Finals picks 29th.

6. The champ picks 30th.

Clean and simple. A nonplayoff team is a bad team. They all need help.
