Larry Cook: Chalk this one up for Cavs

Chalk this one up for Cavs

LeBron James and the Cavaliers hook up with Elton Brand and the Clippers tonight when Los Angeles comes to Cleveland. With the Clippers struggling to tread water at the .500 mark this season and with a 7-16 record away from LA, it's easy to side with Cleveland who is 17-7 at home. Tip off at the Quicken Loans Arena is 7:00 p.m. (ET).

The Cavaliers hold a 17-7 record at home this season to go along with one of the best records in the Eastern Conference. They are playing a Clippers team that will be worn out after their 102-90 loss at New York last night.

These two teams met up on January 13 of this year and the Cavs handed it to the Clippers in LA, 104-92. It was a complete team effort from Cleveland with five players scoring in double figures.

The Clippers are just 7-15 against the spread on the road this season and 3-13 against the spread as an underdog this year. Cleveland is 19-5 against the spread in home games after playing two consecutive games as the favorite over the last two seasons. The home team is also 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings between these two squads.

We like how the Cavs match up with the Clippers tonight and we expect a full team effort here as the Cavaliers look to avenge a loss to the Pistons a couple nights ago. Lay the points and take the home team.

    Play: Cavaliers -5½
