    Formula 1 - Spa-Francorchamps

After 5 weeks off finally an F1 Grand Prix this weekend.

Really tough to know who to pick early I think.

Red Bull smashed the field last year, but either a McLaren or a Ferrari have won the previous 10 events.

Kimi Raikonen has won 4 of his last 5 starts here. 2 in a McLaren and 2 in a Ferrari. (in fact he has won every race he has ever finished here... 3 DNFs)

From what I have read Lotus, McLaren and Sauber think this track suits them well.

Button and Perez sound extra confident about their prospects.

Rosberg very consistent here and has never had the car the other drivers with top 6 averages have enjoyed.

One of the few tracks Webber has better stats than Vettel.

Alonso and Button have both DNFed more than 50% of starts here.

Perez put in a Q3 quali performance last year and is talking up his chances and the car's capacity this year.

I'm just not sure which way to go amongst the 4 favorites yet. Think there might be some early value in one of these as a backup if we can pick out the right one though.

    Grosjean +1100
    Button +1250
    Webber +1300
    Schumacher +4000
    Rosberg +4000
    Perez +10000

    5D Odds

    Lewis Hamilton +300
    Sebastian Vettel +400
    Kimi Raikkonen +500
    Fernando Alonso +550
    Romain Grosjean +1100
    Jenson Button +1250
    Mark Webber +1300
    Michael Schumacher +4000
    Nico Rosberg +4000
    Felipe Massa +8500
    Pastor Maldonado +10000
    Sergio Perez +10000
    Kamui Kobayashi +10000
    Nico Hulkenberg +25000
    Bruno Senna +25000
    Paul di Resta +25000

    Last 10 race winners

3rd column is number of starters and 5th column is winner starting position.

I was pleased with the Aussie one-two But had 6 units on Power, which tempered my joy for Ryan a tad.

There has been one for the last 3 years in a row. But not the 3 years before that. Kind of a coin flip I think, so I guess +250 is good. MatI will probably have something useful to add about it.

Personally I like the pole sitter not to lead first lap amongst those coin flip props. And is usually similar sort of odds or better.

Can't fancy the safety car prop very unlikely at spa unless it rains

Can you imagine the problem with start n parkers betting on themselves?

What a twist that would bring Robby Gordon back and instantly 2-3 more cautions a race

Really like the Lotus boys as well with the new DRS system. It should be a big boost for them at Spa and Monza next week.

I will dig up my SC stats in the next few minutes and post but I feel we have a race without Safety Car this weekend. Forecast is for a dry weekend too. Only real chance of rain at this stage is Friday practice.

Ted Kravitz does not like Lotus chances as much as the rest of us.

He says cold weather and hard tyres won't be helpful.

    Wet P1 session.

Interesting, maybe, Kobayashi was backed into favorite for fastest in session late on Betfair. Not a lot of money, but around $3.00 when Lewis was around $6.00.

Kobayashi sets the first fast time. Does more laps than anyone else. Fights with Maldonado for P1 about halfway through session when both were going 2 seconds faster than the rest of the field. And ends up top of time sheets.

There was some info out there. Or Kobay bet on himself!

Lotus won't be using the new double drs system as they could not test it in wet practice.

    WOW... Vettel misses Q3.

Wishing I had bet on the two confident men right now. Button and Perez.

Hamilton was too much wing on the car to take pole now I think.

Button 1st, Perez 2nd, Kimi 3rd is my prediction right now. Will know in 10 mins.

Mercs just awful. Rosberg out in Q1 and MS in Q2.

Put 5 bucks each on Webber 75/1 and Vettel 40/1, just for interest.

But still tossing up if I want to go Button or Alonso for my main bet.

the -120 for a Webber top6 isn't looking so great now. Sorry Vegas, but I still think he can do it. RBR will try and do an alt strategy I guess, could end up anywhere.
