    2019 Rugby World Cup

Anybody here betting on the Rugby World Cup?

Only four teams have ever won it - New Zealand, South Africa, Australia & England. I can't help feeling Wales and Ireland are overvalued here.

Also, interested if anyone has ideas about top tryscorer at the tournament. Some decent odds on Rieko Ioane (11.0) and Sevu Reece (10.0) at the moment.

    Thoughts?

England will definitely win but odds were absolutely miniscule so I steered clear.

Was very tempted to include New Zealand to bump up the overall odds but South Africa are no joke and I ended up talking myself out of it.

Good luck with your bets, gopolks.

Wow, Wales favoured over Australia in their match on the 29th.

Have not followed international rugby for years but might keep an eye on this thread and tail a bet or two.

    Good luck!

    Namibia +30.5 v Italy?

No idea how good (bad) Namibia might be, but 30.5 seems like a lot to cover for a team with Italy's recent stats?

I am thinking it does not look like the best of draws for New Zealand.

After the opening Sth Africa match they have 3 "training runs" to build up to the quarters. Sounds like a nice easy pool draw on paper but not sure it will have them prepared as well the tougher group teams. If they had the Sth Africa match last, or later, it might be better.

Thanks, Optional, quite interested in the Aussies here myself. Made a tidy profit backing them to finish above England & Wales in their pool back in the 2015 World Cup. They're often underrated at World Cups for some reason but I'd expect them to surprise a few people again.

Must admit I know very little about Namibia but 30.5 does seem like a lot.

Completely agree. One of NZ or SA most likely wins the whole tournament so it's a shame they've to play each other so early on.

Best of luck with your bets, brother.

    Some interesting matches tomorrow.

Australia should beat Fiji in the early match.

France vs Argentina quite difficult to call, could go either way really.

Then New Zealand against South Africa in a clash of the heavyweights. Can't wait.

    Australia 39-21 Fiji.

Two hurdles cleared, two to go.

Respect to Fiji, they gave a good account of themselves.

Must admit I was a bit concerned for a while there. Would be great to see Fiji win a few of their remaining matches.

Taking a shot on Springboks ML 2.75

Can't make up my mind on this match so avoiding altogether. Definitely value on South Africa though, should be much closer than the odds suggest. Hope it cashes for you, Opti.

    Tomorrow's fixtures:

    Italy vs Namibia,

    Ireland vs Scotland,

    England vs Tonga.

We were lucky to get 3 very entertaining matches today, hopefully tomorrow's fixtures will be even half as watchable.

    Ireland 27-3 Scotland.

3 legs in the bag, counting on Wales not to let us down tomorrow.

You can probably hedge your bet now for about 3% total cost. And it still isn't worth bothering!

I rarely hedge and when I do I usually end up wishing I hadn't. I'm going to trust Wales to get it done.

My gut says a big win for England, but I don't tend to do well on prop bets so I'm reluctant to offer what would most likely turn out to be bad advice.

Can't be any worse than my rugby picks so far!

    Oh well, MotoGP it is.

Vinales for a podium finish 1.75

    Thank me later

    Uruguay 30-27 Fiji.

I suppose there was bound to be a shock result sooner or later.

Rumour has it there was some infighting between some of Fiji's players ahead of the game. Can't imagine this result will have helped the mood in the camp much. They'd better go and sort themselves out ahead of their match against Georgia.
