    Del Mar Race Track

Only a few months until Del Mar Race Track opens up for Pony Racing. Can't wait to go to opening day.

Like Del Mar however with the higher takeout now in SCal will not play there. Will start playing at Saratoga

That's the best way to sent a message to the tracks with high takeouts. Let your feet vote. Walk away.

Del Mar starts in July, its still months off. I stopped wagering any real money at Del Mar several seasons ago. Its a polycrap thing. With the addition takeout my only interest in Del Mar is when the final day is. Then I will know Fairplex has arrived with dirt racing.

Love Del Mar. Take out or not. It still comes down to the odds. But one things for sure, no one can match the pick six pools like Southern Cal tracks.

What bothered me the most about the increase in takeout was the attitude shown by the California Horse Racing Board chairman and racetrack management.

It would have been one thing if they showed regret in regards to having to raise the takeout but they did the exact opposite.

They were all high-fiving each other after the legislation was passed and then they start saying things like "99% of bettors don't even care about the increase in takeout as the only thing they are really concerned about is picking winners" and "California bettors were getting a first class product and paying coach prices and that has got to change".

While I would hate to see California racing die off, I sure do hope that exotic betting handle drops substantially this year. That would result in huge purse overpayments and create tremendous problems for that SOB at the CHRB who acted like such a pompous ass through all this.

Sharp post. This attitude is in part a factor in the sports decay.

I like Del Mar because closers play into that track quite a bit, always long odds and good Exacta payouts.

Wow, Bing Crosby would be rolling over in his grave if he read something like this.
