New Lexington mayor says horse farms need gambling

New Lexington Mayor Jim Gray said Kentucky horse farms need revenue from gambling to survive and he will support legislation to allow for expanded gambling in the state.

Gray spoke with The Herald-Leader on Wednesday after he was sworn in on Sunday, saying the issue of gambling to the Bluegrass horse farms was critical.
Gray plans to host legislators at his home next month to urge them to consider the gambling issue again.

Kentucky lawmakers have spent three years debating over gambling and House speaker Greg Stumbo told reporters this week that proposals to legalize slots at horse tracks or to allow casinos won’t get a hearing because they have no chance of passing this year.

oooooooo, the mayor. I'd be surprised if Kentucky legislators even know who he is.

who is going to lose the money that is needed to support bluegrass horse farms. the rich population of kentucky? i don't think so. the poor will stop betting horses for a quick casino fix and forget about racing. it is happening elsewhere and soon everyone will be clean.

All of the jobs that will go away if those farms fold are held by low income people .
Not saying right or wrong, just pointing out that these people will lose there jobs and that would be tough.
Further, any casino will directly aide horse racing, so not sure what these answers are trying to say.
