Need some hints on Betting the Horses

Im fairly new to horse racing. I want to learn more about it and get into it. I understand all the different wager types. I just need some tips on handicapping the races. Is there anywhere online I can get the racing forms and also what are the best bets. I always play exactas and trifectas when Im in Vegas or at a track. I just need to learn more about it.

Most public libraries have at least one book that involves handicapping of horses.Thats how I learned. Learn the fundamentals and then develope you're own style.
Most of the betting sites {tvg, xpressbet, youbet} will provide you with past preformances for a small fee.
The best bets are a individual choice. My big hits have been with pick 3's, pick 4s and trifectas. The basic win bet is also a good bet.

Don't handicap horses. Handicap owners, trainers, and veterinarians (vets can influence how a horse races, you can guess why). Also pay very close attention to post position. Some horses are night and day depending on where they come out of the gate at.

A good book to start out with is Andrew Beyer
author of picking winners. Learn about race times
and track variants. Speed, pace, ext.

Agreed. There are various tools people use when they try to predict the outcome of a horse race.It is wise to at least know what they are even if you choose not to employ all of them. Its been said handicapping horses is a science and betting on them is an art.The beauty of this form of gambling is the odds. You can bet small and win big. Its a tough game to beat but there are times when $ can come floating down from heaven.
Good reading and time and You'll be ready for the summer meet at Colonial Downs and become a turf race specialist.

If you have any questions, comments or problems concerning the distribution of Daily Racing Form in South Carolina please e-mail circ@drf.com or call 800-752-0498.

You have to learn to read the DRF (bible for horses). Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. This is the only way to go if you want to bet horses. ClASS, CLASS, CLASS and more CLASS is the number one thing you will check before you can elimante a horse. That is a must for betting horses. Buy a drf at a store near you and inside it will show you how to read one. You will have to put a lot of hours into it but it can be fun. Also, dont get carrired away with betting a lot of money untill you can read a form. You can put many hours in reading a form and develop your own system. There is a lot to learn but it can be fun. Then, before you are ready to bet your exotics, buy the book "exotic betting" by Steven christ. he will show you how to bet your exotics. Good luck and if you need anymore help, let me know. I have a ton of books on horses and I may even have a good sytem for you. Good luck and have fun

Always wager on the horse that crosses the finish line 1st!

This always helps my bottom line ...

You know why that is don't you?? ...

Cause he runs faster than all the other horses!

I am a tote board bettor, and when I see "smart" money move the odds on a horse in a drastic fashion towards post time, i jump on it. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it tends to pay off more than not.
