    worst turf rider.....

that is fairly competent to above average riding on the dirt? One that immediately comes to my mind is Martin Pedroza out west... totally clueless on the grass in losing ground on both turns, gunning on the backstretch and absolutely no sense of position in relation to being covered up.

    any others?

Lezcano is pretty bad in the east in my opinion, always pulls horses wide instead of saving ground.. Castellano in NY always seems to find a way to steady his horse on the grass as well..

Ya as previously stated Lezcano and Castellano are decent turf riders. Lezcano can bring them in on the turf. Thinking about it all the best jockeys are just as good on the turf.

Cornelio Velasquez is a terrific turf rider in NY. He rarely gets in trouble.

is he? his win% always seems pretty low on turf. maybe his ROI on turf is good...

linda rice uses him all the time, and shes usually a big player in saratoga turf sprints. i would expect velazquez to be 15-20% on the turf at saratoga.

That is what I was going to say..C Velasquez is really good at turf sprints mainly because he gets the pick of the litter when it comes to L Rice's horses and average at routes.

I'm surprised no one mentioned A Solis and one of my personal favorites is Eddie Castro.Just realized the title of the thread so don't want to mislead.I think these 2 are pretty good on turf.

All i said was Lezcano always goes wide when he shouldnt and Castellano seems to check his horse every race, doesnt mean they don't win, i mean all jockeys suck, just some less than others.

I base my opinion on him mostly because he rarely gets in trouble. He doesn't ride for the big outfits, except for Linda Rice. But he finishes strong. When he's on the best horse, he wins.

lol.... nobody really answered what I asked or was looking for.... who is a good dirt rider but sucks on turf? This just turned into a debate over the merits of certain high profile bigtime track jockeys on the grass. grrrrrrr

I don't think much separates them.Come Breeders Cup day in a turf race I'm happy with either Castellano or Bejarano and if the turf isn't rock hard I'll take Leparoux on a closer also.Dominguez and Gomez are about as reliable as they come even though Ramon is in a funk for the first time I have seen.Ryan Curatolo is going to be a superstar in a couple years .
