In the last 10yrs the preakness winner has been 3 yr old champ. out of the last 13 yrs only 1 horse ( rachel alexander) won the preakness having the lead at the 1/2 mile, the other that came close was first dude and from 1997-2008 no leader at the 1/2 mile even hit the board except 09' rachel alexander and 08 first dude who held on for 2nd. Interesting the only leader to hit board or win was the last 2 yrs.
