Toby's Corner, the Wood Memorial winner who figured as one of wagering favorites Saturday for the 137th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, was declared out of the race Tuesday morning by trainer Graham Motion. Churchill officials made the announcement at 9:30 a.m. Eastern. KENTUCKY DERBY NEWS: Track all the 3-year-olds on the Triple Crown trail Toby's Corner, bred and owned by Dianne Cotter, was scheduled to be vanned Tuesday from his training base in Fair Hill, Md., but did not make the trip after suffering an unspecified injury.
The defection will allow Derby Kitten to become the 20th horse into the Derby field. Entries close Wednesday at 10 a.m.
