    Sharks to let Nabby go

Looks like the Sharks not gonna resign Nabakov, he's gonna be too expensive. Plus I think its clear they need to try a different mix anyway.

They need a change at the goalie position but it's strange that they would let him go for nothing.

Well he's a free agent, they don't wanna pay what he's asking, and if the truth be told, just move on and try something different.

About freakin' time! They will be better off with Greiss or hell even with a Women's Olympic goalie in there

I will be surprised if the Sharks don't sign a reliable veteran goalie to compliment Greiss. Greiss is just too unproven to carry this team. Someone like Chris Mason could be a good fit.

The Kazakhstani big game choker was worth nowhere near his 6 million dollar salary. Next season he'll probably be in the KHL where they will overpay him as much as he wants.

Agree with that. I don't think Greiss is ready for full time duty yet.

San Jose will most likely sign a veteran goaltender at a much better price than Nabokov... Maybe Turco or Mason and Greiss should get a legit shot at contending for number 1.

They have had such a good team even without good goaltending...look what happened to Toskala when he left and he was "just as good" as Nabby at that time.

Salary cap issue. They had to choose between Marleau and Nabby. Nabby, as good as he has been in the regular season, just hasn't stole enough wins for the Sharks in the playoffs. Sharks probably feel they can find a cheaper replacement.

If you ever watched the Sharks on a regular basis you would understand why His numbers have always been very misleading.

San Jose's team and style make their goaltenders look better than they really are. Just look at Toskala after he left San Jose where he put up unbelievable numbers.

especially after seeing "lesser" goalies like Niemi, Leighton, Halak, Rask carry their teams to the conference finals

Agree 100%. You have to wonder now days whether having a top end goalie really make a difference when the likes of Brodeur, Luongo etc couldn't carry their team deep in the playoffs. Then you have guys like Leighton and Niemi who comes out of no where to play well and go deep in the Stanley Cup finals.
