The San Jose Sharks took a big bite out of the Vancouver Canucks Friday night with a 4-0 victory that pushed the Canadian team's losing streak to seven games.

But one member of the Canucks might have taken a bite back.

Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic said after the game that Canucks forward Antoine Roussel bit him during a late-game scrum, and he showed a reporter a mark on his left hand.

Video showed Vlasic reacting angrily as he and Roussel shoved each other in the final minute of the game. Roussel received cross-checking and roughing minor penalties, plus a 10-minute misconduct to cap off his five-penalty night.

A slowed-down closeup of the video shows Vlasic's hand near Roussel's ear as the on-ice officials tried to separate them and Roussel appearing to bite down when Vlasic's hand ends up near his mouth.

If the NHL's Department of Player Safety decides to look at the apparent incident, Roussel has a history of supplemental discipline.

He was suspended for two games in February 2015 for a cross-check against the Boston Bruins and fined $5,376 earlier that season for throwing a sucker punch against a Sharks player.

Roussel, who began his career with the Dallas Stars, has 871 career penalty minutes in 434 games. He signed a four-year, $12 million contract with Vancouver during the offseason.

Roussel isn't the first Canucks player accused of biting someone. Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron said Vancouver's Alex Burrows clamped down on his finger during the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

The NHL didn't suspend Burrows.
