New York Rangers vs. Calgary Flames

Two very decent teams facing off tonight. The Rangers got off to a roaring start, but are just 2-3-1 in their last 6 games. Calgary has been playing well lately, 5-2 in their last 7 games and 9-4 in their last 13 games at home. The Rangers are 2-4-2 in their last 8 games when playing in Calgary. However, this is a different Rangers team, they've been playing like they're on a mission lately. NYR outmatch their Canadian opponents in every category except barely being beat in goals scored per game 3.50 to 3.24. Rangers are 9th in scoring while the Flames are ranked 15th in defense. Rangers Road scoring is 15th in the league against Calgary's 23rd ranked home defense. New York has a road power play ranked 15th vs. the Flames' 26th ranked home penalty kill. The Flames are pretty good at home though, offensively. Their home PP is ranked 3rd, but the Ranger's counter it well with a 6th ranked road PK. New York leads the league in penalty killing at 87.3%, so I'm not too worried about the Flames and their power play and the Flames also have the lowest PP chances in the league with just 3.3 per game. Even though Calgary is 3rd worst in shots on goal in the league, they make the most of their chances as they are the 3rd highest scoring team in the league. Lundqvist has been solid in net with a 2.52 GAA and a .918 SV%. Flames counter with a good goalie as well. Kiprusoff GAA has a 2.82 and SV% of .907. Similar goalies here, they shouldn't be the difference makers. The Rangers are certainly going to be contenders here. At +125 I think New York definitely has some value here, they are the better team. If Gaborik and company can get the sticks booming, they should be able to get the win.
